Who We Are
We are Tennis! The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open.

The Role
The Youth Intern will support the development, coordination, and execution of USTA youth tennis programs, with a primary focus on the RCX Youth Team League, Junior Circuit operations, and US Open initiatives. This role involves event support, logistical planning, communications, and refinement of program materials such as decks and templates.


This internship offers exposure to the fast-paced world of sports, providing opportunities to build essential professional skills, including leadership, collaboration, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and time management. The intern will also be closely involved in planning and communications for the US Open and Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day (AAKD), one of the USTA’s largest annual initiatives. By the end of the program, the intern should feel confident stepping into future roles within the USTA or the broader sports industry.

AAKD & Net Generation Communications
  • Manage the email inbox and communications for AAKD and on-court youth activations.
  • Support preparation of materials, including nametags, documents, and volunteer communications
Junior Programming Education
  • Research, plan, and design educational modules for players and parents participating in Junior Team Tennis and Junior Circuits
Deck & Template Improvements
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance decks, templates, and presentation materials for various projects
US Open / AAKD / Net Generation On-Court Support
Provide logistic and operational support, including:
  • Assisting with volunteer selection and preparation
  • Helping maintain project trackers and status documents
  • Supporting product selection, ordering, and payment (merchandise, supplies, etc.)
  • Budget tracking, invoice submission, and documentation
  • Contributing ideas to incorporate youth and junior pathway information into AAKD and on-court activities
RCX & Youth Team League Support
  • Assist national staff in implementing and promoting the Youth Team League across approved sections.
  • Track and communicate tennis program deliverables in collaboration with RCX Sports
  • Attend weekly, monthly, or in-person RCX meetings to support relationship building and program alignment.
Junior Circuit Provider & Section Staff Workshop
  • Assist in planning and logistics for a potential 2026 in-person workshop
Welcome Package Development
  • Work with internal teams and all sections to continue planning and execution of the youth welcome package.
  • Review survey feedback and collaborate with sections on package management and content.
Shadowing Opportunities
  • Shadow external departments such as Sponsorship, Industry & Sales, Marketing, Section Services, USTA Coaching, and others
  • Observe sportsmanship initiatives and committee activities to broaden understanding of organizational operations
 
Program details:
  • 8-week program from June 9 through August 11
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET
  • Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site at our Orlando office.
  • Compensation: $16.00 per hour

Who You Are
  • Strong communicator with solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experienced or interested in event coordination and basic project management
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of tennis or prior experience in the sport is desired but not required.
  • Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn in a dynamic, youth-focused environment
