Who We Are
We are Tennis! The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the recognized leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the U.S. The Hawaii Pacific Section is one of 17 geographic Sections of the USTA. Incorporated in 1973, the Hawaii Pacific Section embraces over 7,800 individual members and 109 organizational members in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas. In addition, the Hawaii Pacific Section is further comprised of four Community Tennis Organizations: Kauai, Maui, East Hawaii & West Hawaii. The Hawaii Pacific Section is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to carrying out the goals of the national association within its region, particularly with respect to promoting tennis opportunities for juniors and adults of all abilities and all cultural backgrounds.

The Role
Primary Responsibilities:
  • To develop, promote, and administer the Adult Orange Ball program.
  • Promote lessons, leagues, and tournaments.
  • Organize and administer tennis lessons at various tennis facilities.
  • Organize and administer a League Program
  • Organize and administer Tournaments.
Essential Duties:
  • Write the guidelines for the Adult Orange Ball Program
  • Order equipment and supplies
  • Obtain tennis court permits for the program in conjunction with our Director of  Community Tennis
  • Develop a marketing plan for the Program.
  • Work in collaboration with Section staff 
  • Promote the program with the neighboring island Community Tennis Organizations (CTOs) 
  • Develop a schedule for lessons, leagues, and tournaments in conjunction with the Master Calendar and CTOs
Other Duties:
  • Assist with other section events and activities.
Who You Are
  • Comfortable working a minimum of 40 hours a week, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.
  • High School degree required, college degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to learn new software programs and applications 
  • Ability to use copy/fax machine and postage meter
  • Ability to commute to the Hawaii Prince Tennis Club, travel to neighboring Islands and some mainland travel; must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel to neighboring Islands and some mainland travel
  • Requires contacts and good rapport with the community
  • Ability to safely lift 25 pounds
  • Knowledge of tennis and tennis playing experience is required; Tennis coaching or teaching experience is preferred

The expected base salary for this position is $50,000  plus lesson income for the program manager. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify.  The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
