Company Overview
The Valspar Championship is a 72-hole official PGA TOUR event and part of the season-long FedEx Cup played on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf and Spa Resort in Palm Harbor, FL. The tournament is operated by a not-for-profit organization, Copperhead Charities, Inc., a volunteer group of Tampa Bay area community leaders known as the Copperheads. The members have the dual ambition of raising money for charity and providing golf fans with the best in PGA TOUR competition. Since 1977, more than $53 million has been generated for local charities by the Copperheads. 
 
Intern Program
The Valspar Championship relies heavily on its interns in the planning and execution of the tournament and associated events. Interns gain invaluable experience in all areas of tournament management including event planning and coordination, sponsorship sales and activation, ticketing, volunteer and charity management, and operations. There will be nine (9) total interns hired among the various tournament departments.  
 
This program offers college/university level students hands-on business experience within various departments during the spring semester. 
 
As an intern, this candidate will work in areas including but not limited to:
·        Collaborating with various departments in the planning and execution of tournament week events and activities 
·        Operations assistance 
·        Promoting the tournament at various events in the Tampa Bay Area
 
All internships are unpaid and must be completed for course credit.
 
Qualified applicants must have:
·        A desire to gain experience in a professional sports environment
·        Excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills
·        Knowledge in Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint
·        Flexibility, punctuality, and willingness to work evenings, long hours, and weekends
·        Great attitude, work ethic, and enthusiasm for learning at all levels
·        Full availability: January – March 2026
