Period: January 11, 2027 - May 28, 2027 (Valero Texas Open week: March 29 - April 4)
Compensation: $1,750 per month
 
Valero Texas Open Overview:
Established in 1922, the Valero Texas Open (VTO) is one of premiere tournaments that make up the world’s leading professional golf circuit, the PGA TOUR. Raising money for charity is a central focus of the PGA TOUR and the VTO shares in that mission.  Having raised over $306.2 million for charity since inception, the VTO is consistently the top charitable fundraiser on the PGA TOUR annually - with $25.2 million donated in 2026.  
 
Each year, the VTO attracts 132 of the top PGA TOUR professionals, tens of thousands of spectators each day, millions of television viewers, and a list of blue-chip sponsors to TPC San Antonio and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.
 
Now, we would like to attract the top intern candidates to join our team for the 2027 edition of the Valero Texas Open.  
 
Job Responsibilities:
Assist and support the Client Services team with tasks including, but not limited to:
 
Ticketing & Credentialing
  • Manage the fulfillment of sponsor ticket packages using Ticketmaster’s Archtics software and Account Manager platform
  • Manage ticketing reports and analyze sales, distribution, usage and attendance data
  • Provide support and instruction to clients requiring assistance with their electronic tickets
  • Design digital ticket graphics & digital ticketing guides
  • Oversee credentialing for tournament staff/vendors/etc. 
  • Create Credential Handbook with Marketing team for tournament security checkpoints
  • Assist Ticketmaster with on-course set-up prior to tournament
  • Support admissions and hospitality committees with ticketing equipment, troubleshooting & training

Ancillary Events
  • Pro-Am Events
    • Assist with participant registration and provide support for player and guest questions 
    • Help ensure F&B, AV, and décor elements are in place prior to the start of each event 
    • Be on-site to support the Client Services team, hotel staff, and event point of contact during execution
  • Night To Honor Our Heroes (Military Appreciation Event)
    • Assist with guest check-in and registration for up to 1,500 attendees
    •  Provide on-site support by answering participant questions and directing guests
    •  Help monitor guest flow and assist Client Services staff with event needs

PGA TOUR Player Relations
  • Identify and plan activities in and around San Antonio for PGA TOUR players, wives, and families 
  • Source annual player welcome gift
  • Work with PGA TOUR Childcare team to ensure their needs are met prior to and during tournament week 
  • Oversee registration and implementation of planned activities during tournament week 

Merchandising
  • Track incoming merchandise orders and samples
  • Oversee inventory and fulfillment for merchandise sales

The internship also includes the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Valero Texas Open departments such as Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Volunteers on other tournament related events and projects. 

Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate must…
  • Must be willing to move to or currently reside in/near San Antonio, Texas.
  • Must be able to commit fully to the Valero Texas Open, including long workdays and extended periods without a day off, especially in the four weeks prior to and the week of the Valero Texas Open. This includes working evenings, weekends and holidays as required throughout the period of employment. This is a full-time position.
  • Be self-motivated and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while exercising organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills that complement a proactive, solution-driven, team-oriented work ethic.
  • Have a strong ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of individuals from entry-level to C-level executives.
  • Be comfortable making phone calls, setting appointments, and establishing/developing relationships.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to commute to main offices, TPC San Antonio temporary offices, and to offsite locations.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), internet software, and various social media platforms.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Have a desire to work in sports/event management; a completed degree or working toward a degree in a related field (Sports Management, PGA Management, Business Management, Hospitality & Leisure Management, etc.) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of golf and golf events is not a requirement but a plus.
