The Equipment Operator III is an advanced maintenance professional responsible for full-scope golf course operations, including specialized and heavy equipment use and complex course improvement projects. This role requires strong technical skill, independent judgment, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance or a similar role
  • Education in turfgrass management, or related field, preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility and work areas
  • Clean, inspect, and oversee equipment condition; report mechanical, operational, or safety concerns promptly
  • Perform daily and advanced golf course maintenance as directed by leadership
  • Complete and maintain training or certification for specialized and heavy equipment
  • Operate a full range of basic, specialized, and heavy equipment and perform groundskeeping tasks, including:
    • Line trimming trees, shrubs, and course features
    • Edging cart paths, sprinkler heads, and bunkers
    • Ball mark repair and divot filling
    • Sod installation and turf repair
    • Utility vehicle operation
    • Walk-behind mower operation on greens, tees, and approaches
    • Blower operation
    • Hand raking bunkers and general hand tool use
    • Triplex mowing of tees, approaches, and fairways
    • Mechanical bunker raking
    • Drainage installation and repair
    • Tractor operations (aerification, vertical mowing, sweeping, vacuuming, loading, backhoe use, spiking, and raking)
    • Course setup and daily service preparation
    • Trenching and infrastructure repair
    • Operation of large rough mowers and out-front rotary mowers with attachments
    • Chainsaw operation and advanced landscaping tasks
  • Ensure strict compliance with PPE and all safety and operating standards
  • Lead or support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned
Pay Starting at $18/hr

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Position is very active and requires lifting, pulling or pushing up to or over 50 pounds, moving and/or lift items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
