POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary role of this position is to assist the Memorial Tournament Digital Content Team with graphic design needs during advance week and tournament week of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, a signature event on the PGA TOUR.
GOALS
- Gain understanding of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday brand and the impact of visual design, social media, content, marketing and community relations on a sports entity.
- Foster skills in the creation of compelling visual assets that support real-time storytelling and uphold the expectations of the Tournament brand, sponsors and audience.
- Learn how to collaborate on a digital content team and work as a member of a collective effort; grow in a team-oriented, professional environment.
- Build a network of associates by partnering with other Tournament staff and interns.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Maintain and uphold the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday brand through all visual assets
- Assist the social media manager and digital content team with the creation of graphics for use across the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday social channels
- Design real-time and pre-planned content including, but not limited to: social media graphics, event promotions, score updates, player features and sponsor-related content
- Contribute new and creative design ideas to the Tournament-week content plan
- Collaborate with other departments within the Tournament staff to ensure all visual content is consistent and cohesive
- Edit and format graphics quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, live-event environment
- Assist with organization, labeling and filing of design assets for post-tournament usage
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in graphic design required (sports design experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, color and branding
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Confidence to pitch, create and execute innovative and visually engaging ideas
- In tune with current design and social media trends, particularly in the sports content space
- Strong attention to detail, effective follow-up and follow through required
- Basic knowledge of golf is preferred, but not required
- Experience and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects is a plus)
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative
- Team oriented and able to work with all levels of the organization
- Must be creative and a problem solver
