The Player Technology Specialist supports the daily execution and maintenance for the PGA TOUR Central application suite (PGATC) for PGA TOUR members and their key constituents. This role assists players with personalizing their player app, ensures technology runs smoothly during events, and provides responsive end-user support. This position combines technical expertise with strong communication skills to train, support, and empower players in a fast-paced sports environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system engineering, or a similar field or equivalent job experience

  • 3 years’ experience within sports technology, IT support, or event operations, preferably in a professional sports environment

  • Strong organizational skills, proactive, and accountable with the ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail

  • Ability to maintain a steady work pace with a high level of accuracy while effectively managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Tech-savvy and player-first mindset, strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technology clearly to non-technical users

  • Familiarity with scoring systems, player apps, or similar performance-tracking tools.

  • Familiarity of mobile app functionality, personalization features, and user experience principles.

  • Ability to deliver technical customer support including quick and effective identification, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work directly with athletes, coaches, technical teams, and other stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of the game of golf, scoring, rules, PGA TOUR structure preferred

  • Available nights, weekends and holidays; extensive travel required throughout the year

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • As a member of the Golf Technology team, responsible for the growth, support, and evolution of the PGA TOUR’s ShotLink production and all other integrated applications.

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and monitoring of the PGA TOUR Central application suite across all competitions and events.

  • Assist in Administration and Content of PGA TOUR Central Applications, responsible for ticket creation, usage and user accounts through Jira and maintain a log of support requests and resolutions to identify trends and recurring issues

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on PGA TOUR statistics and end user applications, ShotLink Stats and Stat Information required to answer questions and display what our players have available to them (Tracker, Stat Info, Performance section of PGATC

  • Provide one-on-one support for login issues, settings adjustments, and feature navigation including personalization based on customer preferences, history, and unique situation and end-to-end support, guiding the customer through the entire process. 

  • Provide continuous education to PGA TOUR Members on all the tools that they have available through PGATC which may include one-on-one and group training sessions with players on how to use and personalize their player app.

  • Maintain up-to-date quick-reference guides and tutorials for players in customizing their profiles, tracking performance, and accessing scoring data.

  • Serve as the liaison between the golf technology, digital and player relations staff.

  • Share feedback from players to inform updates and improvements to the app and scoring system.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues to technology teams as needed.

  • Responsible for checking and updating content, performing audits of all pages in PGATC

  • Work closely with product, engineering, and data teams to enhance user experience and system reliability.

  • Recommend upgrades, features, and workflow improvements based on player and staff feedback.

  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure systems, processes, and tools remain current and effective.

  • Travel to 15 - 25 events per year providing training and support for the PGATC program

  • Special projects or other duties as assigned
