SPORTFIVE Golf Event Management operates the Fortinet Championship in Napa California. SPORTFIVE Golf Event Management is a branch of SPORTFIVE.

SPORTFIVE has more than 1,300 employees and conducts business in more than 20 countries. Current Golf clients include PGA TOUR stars Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley, Jon Rahm and Brandt Snedeker. The SPORTFIVE Golf Event Management Division is the leader in golf event management. Our team have produced over 275 PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, Celebrity and Charity tournaments over the past 30 years. Current PGA TOUR events include the Fortinet Championship and The American Express. Charity is the primary focus for every event and over $250 Million has been raised by the Golf Event Management team to date.

Job Description:

The Fortinet Championship is looking for an Operations Intern. This intern will be responsible for assisting the Operations Director and tournament staff with planning and logistics for staging the event. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to work well in a high-pressure environment, must display strong organizational skills, and must show a high level of oral and written communication.

Vendor Coordination:

Coordinate vendor communications and onsite set up and break down
Assist in execution for specific vendor and operations plans (Fuel program, fencing, restroom placement, etc.)
Responsible for the physical set-up and tear down of various events (i.e. Moving tables, setting up displays/signage, and moving sponsor products)
Coordinate golf cart inventory, delivery and pickup; create intake plan and work with volunteers tournament week to ensure proper allocation of carts

Tournament Operations

Assist with placement and set up of all office trailers
Create and utilize a log for each shipment prior to tournament week; assist volunteer committee during tournament week to ensure proper delivery of shipments
Support staff, PGA TOUR Officials, vendors, and volunteers with the physical preparation of the golf course, tournament site, and off-site areas
Track and inventory tournament assets such as radios, signage, and other supplies
Inventory storage units
Develop credential access boards that illustrate ability to access various areas
Manage Signage placement and organization for the various events and areas of the tournament
Assist with operation of ticket office during tournament week
Collaborate on process for Admissions and Will Call during tournament week

Qualifications & Experience:

Sport Management, Marketing, Management, Communications majors preferred
Eligible to work in the United States; International students must have all visas and employment authorizations
Must be able to provide own housing and transportation
Ability to work in a team environment
Work collaboratively with other departments such as Sponsor Relations, Sales, Marketing, and Volunteers on other projects as assigned
Public relations skills and ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, corporate clients, club members and public
Must take initiative, operate proactively and think independently in project management, problem solving, and critical thinking
Capacity to work on several projects simultaneously
Self-discipline with schedule and time management
Organization, attention to detail and follow-through are crucial
Ability to stand for lengthy periods and to lift/move boxes of supplies potentially weighing 50 pounds
Must be able to work exceptionally well with others in a close team environment
Must be polite, courteous, and treat all guests and associates respectfully
Must be able to stay calm during stressful or demanding moments
Work extended hours; including nights and weekends leading up to and during the event

Employment Dates

The Operations Internship Dates: July 12th-October 1st, 2021.

July 12th-August 1st: 20 hours per week
August 2nd-September 5th: 40 Hours per week
September 6th – September 19th 60 Hours per week
September 20th-October 1st: 20 Hours per week

*Evening and Weekends will be necessary as tournament approaches
