ABOUT THE NORTH FLORIDA PGA
The North Florida PGA (NFPGA) is one of 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Formed in 1979, the NFPGA is the 3rd largest of the 41 geographic Sections that comprise the PGA of America. Approximately 1,700 PGA Members and Associates strive to promote the golf game’s enjoyment and growth in the North Florida Section. With its offices at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden, FL, the NFPGA is dedicated to serving its members and growing the game. North Florida PGA Professionals are the experts in the business of golf. They are responsible for conducting various golf-related functions, including general management, coaching, player engagement, tournament operations, merchandising, and more.

OUR TERRITORY

The NFPGA encompasses the forty-two counties east of the Apalachicola River (west of Tallahassee) to the Atlantic Ocean along the Florida / Georgia border. The southern boundary is the counties of Brevard, Osceola, Highlands, and Charlotte.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The primary focus of this position is to assist in managing Drive, Chip and Putt for the NFPGA. This will include all operation preparations and being the lead staff member on-site for all Local Qualifiers, Subregional Qualifiers and Regional Qualifiers (when hosted in the NFPGA). Other duties can include assisting with the various PGA REACH programs in the Military, Youth, and Diversity and Inclusion pillars. National PGA REACH program examples include:
MILITARY Pillar | PGA HOPE Program - PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH and is designed to introduce golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
YOUTH Pillar | PGA Jr. League - PGA Jr. League (PGAJL) is a fun, social, and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 17 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with friends. The kids learn the game among their peers with professional instruction and direction from PGA/LPGA Professionals who serve as team captains. Parents also play an active role, making the program a family activity and creating another generation of players to enjoy the game.

underrepresented backgrounds who are prepared to ascend to key employment positions in the business of golf.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

● Maintain a working knowledge of all programs, services, policies, and procedures
● Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Section’s Local, Subregional, and Regional (when hosted in the NFPGA) Drive, Chip and Putt Qualifiers
● Work with host professionals to recruit and develop volunteers for events
● Develop proficiency with Drive, Chip and Putt event management software
● Assist in managing operational aspects of the Section’s PGA Jr. League Post Season
● Assist with management of PGA HOPE; includes but not limited to communications, promotions, scheduling, sponsor  activation, budgeting, billing, event execution, and member services
● Assist with Section tournaments and Tour Qualifiers as necessary
● Manage designated special projects

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist with the development of reports and documentation of Drive, Chip and Putt
● Assist with social media that includes, but is not limited to website updates, posts, photography, and emails
● Assist in the communications, coordination, set up and execution of foundation programming events
● Promote awareness of the PGA WORKS Fellowship to help attract future diverse candidates

TEAM MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS

● Strong Golf IQ
● Team player with strong organizational, planning, and communication (both verbal/written) skills
● Ability to interact with youth, parents, and Veterans
● Willingness to be flexible
● Proven ability to work with diverse backgrounds and skill sets
● Excellent communication and customer service
● Attention to detail and ability to multitask
● Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
● Strong computer skills, especially Google Suites (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) and web-savvy
● Functional knowledge of the Rules of Golf
● Proven knowledge of diverse communication strategies and platforms
● Ability to travel and work extended hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnight stays as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
● Prior experience in golf operations, event management, or tournament administration preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Ability to frequently travel for multiple days in a row
● Lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds
● Stand and walk for extended periods
● Work outside in extreme weather and temperatures with direct sun exposure.
● Use of hands with computer data entry, phone assignments, collating materials, etc.
● Ability to hear and see both short and long distances
● Must be able to operate a golf cart
● Must be able to drive a high-profile van

The compensation/benefits package includes the following:
● Stipend of $3,125/month

● Travel expenses when traveling on behalf of the organization
