DESCRIPTION: The Middle Atlantic PGA (MAPGA) is seeking qualified applicants for its 2026 summer internship position in golf tournament operations. Successful applicants will be responsible for helping conduct all day-to-day operations of our summer Junior Tour. The Junior Tour provides golf tournaments throughout the D.C., Virginia/Maryland area for junior golfers ages 9-18.  The Middle Atlantic section office is located in Stafford, VA.  The following information will provide you with a better understanding of everything the internship entails. We are offering three internships that are 3, 6 or 9 months, depending on availability.  

ORGANIZATION: The Middle Atlantic PGA Section (MAPGA), located in Stafford, Virginia, is one of 41 Sections of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The PGA of America, formed in 1916, has grown into the world's largest working sports organization with more than 32,000 members and associates. Its mission is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to the game's growth by providing services to golf professionals and the industry. The MAPGA has been part of the PGA since 1925, and consists of approximately 1,200 golf professionals in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. 

COMPENSATION: $1,200 a month, Free housing and utilities, Staff uniforms (Polos & Shoes), 
All expenses reimbursed (food, hotels, mileage) for tournament travel days.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Coordinate junior tour events with MAPGA and golf course staff  
Tournament administration onsite at MAPGA Junior events and Section events 
Registration, tee set up, marking, starting, rules officiating, and scoring 
Responsible for maintaining junior database  
Share responsibilities of managing MAPGA Junior Golf Social Media pages 
Take photos/videos at events and create graphics to promote tournaments and the Junior Tour 
Input information and edit monthly Junior Golf newsletter 
Produce & manage event production in Golf Genius Tournament Software 
Effectively communicate with parents, juniors, and host professional staff  
Manage company equipment inventory and maintenance  
Other duties as assigned  

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: 
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team based environment  
Enjoy working with children and young adults ages 9-18  
Automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the Middle Atlantic area required 
Interest in a career in golf or sports administration is preferred  
Basic knowledge of the game of golf and Rules of Golf preferred  
Basic Computer knowledge (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.)  
Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
Well organized, punctual, energetic, detail oriented, and a “self-starter”
