JOB SUMMARY:
The MAPGA Section is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support all Section Tournament and Foundation (PGA REACH Middle Atlantic) operations. The Section Competitions Coordinator will play a key role in executing MAPGA Section tournaments, amateur competitions, junior golf and foundation programming events, PGA TOUR qualifiers, and other Section-related events.

A key component of this role will include managing and executing two growing competitive series within the Section: the Middle Atlantic Amateur Series and the PGA HOPE Tour. The Middle Atlantic Amateur Series is a five-event competition providing amateur players with access to premier private clubs throughout the region while fostering sportsmanship and high-level amateur competition. The PGA HOPE Tour is a 15-event series designed for military veterans who have graduated from the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program, providing continued opportunities for competition, camaraderie, and engagement in the game of golf.

The position requires travel to most Section events and the ability to manage various aspects of event operations. The individual working in this position shall act on behalf of the Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America and report to the Tournament and Executive Directors.

Organization: The Middle Atlantic PGA Section (MAPGA), located in Stafford, Virginia, is one of 41 Sections of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. The PGA of America, formed in 1916, has grown into the world's largest working sports organization with more than 32,000 members and associates. Its mission is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to the game's growth by providing services to golf professionals and the industry.  The MAPGA has been a part of the PGA since 1925, and consists of approximately 1,250 golf professionals in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tournament Operations
Middle Atlantic Amateur Series
o Lead the planning and execution of the Middle Atlantic Amateur Series, currently a five-event competitive series hosted at private clubs throughout the Section.
o Manage all operational aspects of the series from initial planning through post-event reporting.
o Coordinate with host clubs to organize course setup, logistics, player experience, and event flow.
o Manage player registration, scoring, pairings, and communications using Golf Genius.
o Build relationships with participating amateur players and cultivate a growing competitive community around the series.
o Ensure events promote sportsmanship, competitive integrity, and access to premier private club venues.
o Track season-long standings and communicate results to participants and MAPGA leadership.
o Develop processes to enhance and grow the series year over year.
● Marketing and Social Media: 
o Assist Communications Coordinator with the creation of content for the MAPGA social media channels, website, newsletters, and other promotional materials. 
PGA HOPE Tour
o Lead the planning and execution of the PGA HOPE Tour, a competitive event series designed for military veterans who have graduated from the PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program.
o Manage all operational aspects of the 15-event tour schedule, including planning, logistics, event setup, and post-event reporting.
o Coordinate with host facilities throughout the Middle Atlantic Section to organize course setup, event logistics, and overall participant experience.
o Oversee player registration, pairings, scoring, and communications through Golf Genius and other tournament management tools.
o Foster a welcoming and competitive environment that supports the continued engagement of veterans in the game of golf following completion of the PGA HOPE program.
o Build relationships with PGA HOPE participants, PGA Professionals, and host facilities to grow participation and strengthen the veteran golf community within the Section.
o Ensure each event reflects the values of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and ongoing player development for PGA HOPE graduates.
o Assist in identifying opportunities to expand the PGA HOPE Tour and enhance the experience for participating veterans.
o Develop processes to enhance and grow the Tour year over year.
 

PGA REACH Middle Atlantic Operations  
● Programming and Event Management: 
○ Manage events in the scoring software and ensure accuracy in event results
o Assist in communications, coordination, set up and execution of foundation programming events 
o Provide on-site support to ensure smooth event flow and positive participant experience 
o Maintain records and reports on event outcomes to improve future programming 

HOPE Chapter Administrative Assistance

General Education/Meeting Assistance
o Assist with Section and Chapter Meeting Coordination
o Administrative tasks to assist Education events

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: 

1. Responsible for monitoring Section event budgets with direction of Tournament Director. 

POSITION/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  This position must be able to travel for extended periods of time in various modes of transportation.
2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
4. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
5. The employee must be able to drive the company vehicle/van and/or drive to and from various locations throughout the Section.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

1. Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) strongly preferred.
2. Golf Administration and tournament operations experience preferred.   
3. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.
4. PGA Member or Associate preferred.

Starting salary of $45,000 – $50,000
