The Northern Texas PGA is one of 41 sections of The PGA of America and has a membership of more than 1,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals. The Northern Texas PGA's objective is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. JOB SUMMARY
The Northern Texas PGA has numerous tournaments, events and stories that we like to share with the North Texas community. Through our communications and media department, our staff helps create and develop content and promote our good works to further our mission of serving our members and growing the game of golf.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This intern’s activities will include, but are not limited to:
- Cover NTPGA, NTPGA Foundation and NTPGA Junior Tour events through photography and posting real-time content
- Produce, capture and edit engaging content that highlights the NTPGA, NTPGA Foundation, and NTPGA Junior Tour
- Manage and promote the NTPGA, NTPGA Foundation, and NTPGA Junior Tour social media outlets, including Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, X, and YouTube
- Creating and editing recap videos after tournaments and events
- Filming, creating and editing content for NTPGA social media accounts
- Assist in maintaining and executing the social media content calendar
- Maintain the NTPGA brand voice in all written materials
- Communicate with and interview juniors, parents, and PGA professionals
- Compose media releases
- Other duties as assigned
*Please note that this role is primarily on-site based with some office days scheduled.
TOURNAMENT TRAVEL
Tournaments will be located throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and extensive travel around DFW is required. Interns will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all tournaments and to and from the Northern Texas PGA office.
SPRING SCHEDULE
Communications & Content interns will be responsible for attending tournaments held within the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. Interns should expect to work, on average, five days a week with the exception of a few special events. In a typical week, Communications & Content interns may expect to work in the office three days a week and on-site two days a week. On average, spring interns can expect to work 35-40 hours including most weekends. Additional tasks and hours can be added for those with special requirements for obtaining school credit.
QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATE
Knowledge of Software & Equipment:
- Ability to use Apple computers and operating system
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Experience with drafting and publishing a press release
- Experience Adobe Creative, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom (Premiere Pro and After Effects are a plus)
- Experience with photography: Mirrorless and/or DSLR cameras
- Videography experience
- Experience with social media management
- Knowledge of lighting
General:
- Enjoy working with people, including children and young adults ages 7-19
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, punctual, energetic and a self-starter
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team-based environment
- Ability to bring innovative and creative ideas to work
- Has or is pursuing a college degree (third or fourth-year students preferred)
- Has automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
- Has existing insurance (through school or family)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work early mornings
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather and temperatures
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, i.e. tents, tables, stakes, and signage
- Ability to safely operate a golf cart
- Ability to stand and move around on foot for extended periods
- Ability to speak publicly
- Effectively able to use and operate cell phones, tablets, and hand-held radios
COMPENSATION
- Interns are compensated at a rate of $10.00 per hour (before taxes)
- Interns are compensated at a rate of $15.00 per hour if / when they work more than 40 hours per week (before taxes)
- Interns are guaranteed a minimum of $600 (before taxes) per two-week pay period during the season
- NTPGA staff uniforms including golf shirts and hats will be provided
- Playing and practicing privileges at the NTPGA Golf Park and select golf courses in the area
- School credit (if applicable)
HOUSING
The Northern Texas PGA does not provide housing of any kind but will be more than happy to assist with the location of housing for those unfamiliar with the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Past interns have utilized corporate housing agencies for fully furnished apartment leases, secured house leases through Airbnb, or utilized extended-stay hotels. Those with family or friends in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are welcome to stay there and are in no way obligated to live with other interns.
