Job Summary:

Join us for an exciting opportunity with the PJ Boatwright Internship at the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation! This full-time temporary assignment offers a transformative experience spanning 12 months. You will immerse yourself in youth development, junior golf, fundraising, and nonprofit management, gaining invaluable insights and skills to take your professional journey forward. Our ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the operations of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation. With a membership exceeding 10,000 junior golfers, the Intern will actively contribute to our foundation's activities.
 
Responsibilities include membership administration, coordinating golf outings and activities, facilitating player and youth development programs (PYD), managing equipment initiatives, and administering scholarships. Additionally, the Intern will provide on-the-ground support as required, assisting with player development practices, community outreach efforts, and facilitating playing opportunities.

 This role offers a flexible schedule, including the potential for evening and weekend work, and requires some local travel as necessary. You will be able to work from multiple locations, including the SCGA office in Studio City and other PYD programming sites. This position also includes eligibility for company benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive ambassador for the sport of golf and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation.
  • Manages all Club and PYD membership administration, credential mailing, participant tracking and customer service.
  • Supports membership and tracking growth.
  • Manages registration pages for programming activities, including classes, game days, assessments, club fittings, leagues, club outings, and tournament series events
  • Uploads data to Salesforce (CRM) for support with development initiatives, including donor appeals, giving fulfillment, and special events.
  • Supports social media content creation
  • Provides customer service across the entire organization including answering calls and emails and assisting and resolving customer issues with all programming and development areas at the primary level.
  • Assists with PYD practices, playing opportunities, and events in the field, as needed.
  • Support development and management of content for all SCGA Junior electronic communications, including numerous newsletters, digital blasts and scgajunior.org.
  • Supports and assists staff in other activities, such as golf outings, community outreach, and new program initiatives.
  • Oversees online PYD store where juniors can purchase replacement gear and membership cards; oversees mailings when necessary.
  • Other duties as relevant and assigned.
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or acceptable combination of education and relative work experience.
  • Customer service approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outgoing and comfortable working independently and in a team environment.  
  • Ability to work under pressure, take in diverse and, at times, conflicting information, and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Adaptable and flexible with changes in the work environment.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIN, TikTok, Facebook, and X (Twitter) is a plus.
  • Detailed oriented, with solid organizational skills and analytical skillset.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and/or previous golf experience is a plus. 
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, including bending/stooping; able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. 
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in various elements of weather.
  • Flexible schedule: must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel with timely arrival to assigned working locations as required.

 While performing the duties of this job, the intern must be able to see, talk, hear and use hands and fingers in performing majority of work. The intern is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The job requires the intern to have dexterity in using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and calculator while seated at a desk and ability to climb stairs. The intern is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance. The Intern must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds with minimal assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as computer, calculator, fax machine, photocopier, and have access to a car.
