Job Summary: 
The Digital Media Manager is responsible for enhancing the SCGA and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s (herein the SCGA) brands, and those supported by the SCGA’s shared services, by overseeing and executing effective social media strategies, primarily on, but not limited to, Instagram, creating/posting engaging content, and managing content calendars to promote core services, events and initiatives. Operating under general supervision from the Director of Communications, this role involves working closely within the Communications & Marketing department to understand the social media storytelling opportunities available via the functions and output of all other departments and shared services.  

Supported by internal and external experts, this position will also play a critical and frequent role in optimizing the SCGA’s website for mobile and desktop viewing, while identifying needed readability and usability repairs and bringing all its existing content into uniform brand guidelines. An ongoing cadence of topline maintenance will include performing frequent functionality audits for the best user experience, ensuring that website reflects industry-leading aesthetics. 

This is a full-time, exempt position with compensation starting at $71,000.00.

Responsibilities: 
  • Independently and consistently ideating and executing on storytelling opportunities for social platforms. 
  • Responsible for managing and creating engaging digital content that highlights SCGA programs, member benefits, events, and the SoCal golf community (including graphics, photos, and short-form videos captured on-site at courses and events).  
  • Plan, script, film and edit video/photo content tailored to golfers and various SCGA audiences. 
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and social media best practices and advise Communications & Marketing department on how the organization can utilize evolving content and/or platforms for the benefit of brand awareness, marketing and/or community building. 
  • Manage and implement social media strategies, including creating a content calendar and scheduling posts to maintain consistent activity. 
  • Develop and execute social media tournament and event coverage. 
  • Management of social media activities, both on-site and remotely. 
  • Research, write, fact-check and proof short-form and long-form content. 
  • Responsible for interacting with followers and fostering community engagement.
  • Leverage creative, communication, and analytical skills to drive engagement and brand growth.
  • Manage SCGA’s website; regularly update it to keep content current and relevant; and write, edit, proofread, and update website copy and other content to be engaging, informative, and in alignment with best practices. 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain a consistent and compelling online presence and enhance website usability and performance. 
  • Conduct regular link testing and site audits to ensure all pages, forms, and member resources remain accurate and fully functional. 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field, preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in digital/social media or communications 
  • Experience with running brand-driven social media accounts 
  • Proficient knowledge of Instagram in its most current iteration 
  • Adept at making short form social media videos/reels using a smartphone or other company issued equipment (including Bluetooth microphones, lights) 
  • Proficient in knowledge in HubSpot or similar software 
  • Strong skills in graphic design and content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) 
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in multimedia content creation 
  • Familiarity with digital accessibility standards 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, with minimal oversight required from management
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Proven ability to manage projects and meet established deadlines 
  • Must possess exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Must be highly organized, motivated and have a strong commitment to integrity, teamwork, and customer service to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task 
  • Experience with photography and videography, including on-course shooting and editing 
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Willingness to travel and ability to work long hours, including early mornings and weekends. 
  • Knowledge of on-course golf etiquette, golf lexicon, SoCal golf scene and golf industry is strongly preferred. 

Time and Travel:  
The job requires some travel, mainly throughout Southern California. If driving a vehicle for work purposes, the employee must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, proof, and proof of adequate car insurance. This position requires working contiguous days with flexible scheduling over a seven-day week. The employee must be willing to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to move, lift and carry heavy objects, including supply boxes, and marketing collateral weighing up to 60 pounds. The job requires the employee to stand and/or walk for long periods of time while performing duties, including giving presentations.
