Job Summary:
The Development Associate plays a key administrative role in the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s development team. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining accurate donor records, supporting gift processing and acknowledgments, generating reports, and managing the donor CRM system (Salesforce). The role also contributes to fundraising, events, and scholarship support but places a heavy emphasis on back-end operations, data entry, and system administration.
This is a detail-oriented role ideal for someone who is systems-driven, highly organized, and interested in supporting the operational success of a growing nonprofit.
What You’ll Do:
Data & Systems Administration
- Maintain and update donor records in Salesforce, ensuring accurate data entry, contact tracking, and activity logging.
- Process all donations, generate tax receipts, and manage donor acknowledgment letters in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and reconcile data imports from third-party systems (e.g., SurveyMonkey, auction platforms, Soapbox Engage).
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and mailing lists for appeals, events, and stewardship activities.
- Manage monthly Ambassador Club fulfillment process and support tracking of recurring donations and benefits.
- Conduct routine data clean-up and database hygiene to support donor engagement strategies.
- Serve as the team’s go-to resource for Salesforce troubleshooting and training.
- Use Excel and other tools to prepare and format data for campaigns and performance tracking.
Fundraising & Events
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising initiatives including donor appeals, giving campaigns, and sweepstakes.
- Coordinate in-kind donation tracking, auction item management, and raffle efforts.
- Support logistics and backend coordination for community events including but not limited to Play Days, annual fundraising events and scholarship receptions.
- Build registration pages and campaign content; coordinate event communications and day-of support.
- Attend donor-facing events and represent the Foundation with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Administrative Support
- Respond to donor and constituent inquiries via phone and email, offering prompt and courteous service.
- Assist with general administrative tasks including material prep, email distribution lists, and calendar coordination.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program staff for events and community activations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in nonprofit administration, fundraising operations, CRM/database management, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience using Salesforce (or a similar CRM platform) for data entry, reporting, and record maintenance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with large datasets.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with accuracy and timeliness.
Preferred Skills
- Comfortable with data analysis and general accounting.
- Familiarity with platforms like Excel, Salesforce, Authorize.net, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Soapbox Engage or similar fundraising platforms.
- Experience with donor relations or nonprofit fundraising.
- Customer service experience, particularly in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
- Interest or background in youth development, sports, or community engagement.
Other Qualifications:
This position requires access to reliable transportation with sufficient space to transport program supplies and equipment. If the employee uses a personal vehicle for work-related travel, they must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain current automobile insurance that meets the state’s minimum coverage requirements.
The position involves occasional travel to program sites and may require work during evenings and weekends, as needed. The regular schedule for this role is Monday through Friday.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, to include bending/stooping; able to lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs. with minimal assistance. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in various elements of weather.
