Cabot’s first U.S. destination, Cabot Citrus Farms, is situated on 1,200 acres of rolling land and will include Cabot’s signature combination of world-class golf, luxury accommodations, and real estate opportunities. Opening in 2023, Cabot Citrus Farms will feature two revitalized 18-hole courses, an 11-hole par-3 course, an unconventional 10-hole course, a new clubhouse, and extensive practice facilities. The property is a short 50-minute drive from Tampa and an 80-minute drive from Orlando. While close to urban amenities, the property sits in the central-west region of Florida aptly known as the Nature Coast. Visitors will delight in one-of-a-kind experiences including exceptional hiking, biking, and nature trails at neighboring Withlacoochee State Forest, spring-fed rivers and bountiful lakes at Crystal River, and world-class fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. 

Position Overview
As Controller, you are a key member of our Cabot Citrus Farms team and will be instrumental in building on Cabot’s legacy of world-leading golf destinations. You will report directly to the Cabot Citrus Farms CFO. This exciting fast-paced role will appeal to your exceptional work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for variety. Profile Overview
Reporting to the Cabot Citrus Farms Chief Financial Officer, the Controller displays a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, and enthusiasm and is the right hand of the CFO.   The Controller will supervise and lead a growing team of senior and staff accountants. They will possess a supportive and mentoring personality.  Flexibility with a can-do attitude that leads to accomplishing tasks and goals will be a key attribute of this role.  The Controller is a trusted teammate who always maintains confidentiality and exemplifies Cabot’s values of confidence, authenticity, humility, and warmth.  

Core accountabilities
  • Support CFO with the preparation of the annual budget, and the continuous tracking of the budget with P&L leaders.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements including P&Ls, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements, supporting commentary and budget to actual variance analysis with support of our budgeting software.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and the VP, Construction & Development (& his team) to ensure proper project cost/construction accounting with the support of the Staff Accountant – Construction & Development.
  • Oversee debt draws and ensure all loan reporting and covenants are accurate, complete and in compliance. 
  • Oversee and continuously improve month-end closing procedures, lead by the Senior Accountant.
  • Complete all state and tax reporting and lead yearly audits.
  • Ensure all tax payments are up to date and assist with annual tax return preparation as required.
  • Collaborate with the People & Culture team to process Cabot Citrus Farms payroll and code accordingly in our accounting software.
  • Support the CFO with ad-hoc analysis.
  • Establish and monitor appropriate financial controls that are appropriate for the business’ size and stage.
  • Ensure secure and efficient storage of documentation, and have a mindset of continuously improving systems and ways of working.
  • Support and lead software implementation that improves accounting processes. 
  • Ensure appropriate insurance is in place for the Cabot Citrus Farms property.

Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of relevant accounting, financial planning & analysis experience.
  • Additional experience in real estate, construction/development is a benefit either at Accounting Firm or within the industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Business Central or equivalent accounting software.
  • Strong IFRS, Sales Taxes knowledge, and financial reporting technical skills.
  • Professional designation such as CPA or MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is an asset.
