The primary purpose of the Transportation Manager is to lead the daily operations of the Chauffeur teams. The Transportation Manager should be present for all arrivals, departures, assist in any airport runs and be willing and able to jump to complete any task. In addition, the Transportation Manger will be the primary contact for Mercedes-Benz of Augusta to schedule regular maintenance and communicate vehicle issues. This position is responsible for assuring the absolute highest level of service in all areas, while maintaining the utmost level of integrity and strictest confidentiality of all Club business.

In the off-season (June-end of September), the Transportation Manager will complete tasks such as all transportation for club business, newspaper delivery, mail run, bank run, detailing Clubhouse and Chairman areas, clean carts, clean vehicles and complete all other tasks assigned by management. The Transportation Manager will lead the retrofit of all new vehicles, ensure proper insurance and documentation.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Oversees the daily management of Chauffeurs.
  • Provides the highest quality service and products to our members and guests, at all times. 
  • Daily communication with the Front Office team to plan for member and guest’s arrivals/departures and any other transportation needs.
  • Creates weekly chauffeur schedule and post in a timely manner.
  • Manage member party transportation to include hotel shuttles, on property transportation & Friday evening departures in front of the Clubhouse. Work in conjunction with Member Services and the Bag Room staff to ensure all luggage/golf bags are properly accounted for prior to member departures.
  • Interfaces with the members and guests, always assuring maximum satisfaction.
  • Actively communicate, coach and develop the transportation employees by conducting routine team meetings and training opportunities.
  • Train and develop new Chauffeurs.
  • Directly supervise all prescribed areas ensuring that scheduled staff are knowledgeable of the day’s activities and perform in accordance with all Club standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists to analyze budgets, staffing and general operating guidelines for the Transportation department.  Makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides appropriate reports to the management concerning employee hours/overtime, scheduling, job changes, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assures the appearance, standards, cleanliness, temperature, and proper set-up of all areas. 
  • Participates in on-going facility inspections throughout his/her designated areas insuring that cleanliness, safety and other standards are consistently met, reports any deficiencies to the senior management.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles including Sprinters, SUV’s, sedan and carts to be cleaned and well maintained.
  • Receives, investigates and acts immediately upon any member or guest complaint.  Advises the management of complaints and implements immediate corrective action.  Assists in developing and implementing remedial preventive actions.
  • Accountable for the overall results of the team.
  • Manages multiple processes, programs, and projects, while seeking efficiency in process improvements.
  • Partners with leadership on the team's hiring, onboarding, performance management, and performance improvement.
  • Accountable for the daily scheduling and determination of staff allocation

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.
  • Constantly required to use vision to perform an activity such as but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with the Clubhouse Manager of Lodging in the planning and execution transportation of all member/player parties and events, as well as the Masters Tournament, Augusta National Woman’s Amateur and the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship.
  • Works closely with the Valet Supervisor and Clubhouse Manager to lead the daily and nightly valet team during the Masters Tournament.
  • Assumes other projects as outlined by the Clubhouse Manager.
  • Performs all other duties that are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.

Relative Experience/Education:

  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in a front-of-house hospitality leadership role.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Previous hospitality experience highly preferred.

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.

Projected Work Schedule:

Must be available for a varying work schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
