Position Overview

The Washington Commanders are seeking a dynamic and driven Director of Growth to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Growth Officer, this individual will serve as a cross-functional executive responsible for identifying, advancing, and executing high-value commercial and fan-experience initiatives. The Director of Growth will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and enhancing brand value across partnerships, food & beverage, events, and international markets. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, operational execution, and relationship management — ensuring that no opportunity falls through the cracks and that projects move rapidly from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Partnership

· Partner directly with the Chief Growth Officer to advance the organization’s most critical growth initiatives.

· Manage cross-functional projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.

· Provide data-driven recommendations and packaged decision options for senior leadership review.

Partnerships & Naming Rights

· Support the development, packaging, and sale of major commercial partnerships, including stadium naming rights.

· Prepare and executed a detailed RFP process for potential agency support or other third party assistance – then managing those support functions on an ongoing basis.

· Conduct research, prepare presentations, and manage tactical deliverables to ensure flawless execution of the strategic plan.

· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize partner value and revenue impact.

Food & Beverage Innovation

· Support the Director of Food & Beverage on commercial opportunity development and execution.

· Work closely with the Commanders’ F&B partner and internal teams to drive per-cap growth and fan satisfaction.

· Analyze sales and consumer insights, test new concepts, and provide performance-based recommendations.

Major Events

· Help present event opportunities with clear commercial, operational, and fan-experience evaluation & considerations.

· Spearhead revenue maximization for each booked event with a focus on intentional strategies and application of best practices.

· Assist in the development of process to source, evaluate, and secure major events alongside secondary event programming at Commanders venues.

International Market Development (UAE)

· Develop and execute fan engagement and partnership strategies in the UAE, leveraging NFL international marketing rights.

· Conduct due diligence on potential partners and present best-fit opportunities to leadership.

· Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure culturally relevant engagement and activations.

· Manage any relevant agencies or third party consultants to streamline communication and process.

Other

· Proactively seek out opportunities to improve collaboration, communication, or general organizational uplift.

· Attend gamedays and other major events to assist with various organizational needs.

· Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).

· Minimum 8+ years of experience in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or commercial growth roles.

· Proven track record of delivering revenue-generating initiatives, preferably in naming rights, partnerships, F&B, or large-scale event development.

· Strong project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives under tight deadlines.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of influencing at all levels of an organization.

· Global perspective with prior experience working in or with international markets (Middle East experience a plus).

· Passion for innovation, fan experience, and operational excellence.

· Motivated self-starter with a positive “team-first” attitude.

Success Measures

· Incremental revenue from partnerships, naming rights, events, and food & beverage innovation.

· Growth in non-game day venue utilization and international market engagement.

· Percentage of vetted opportunities advanced to leadership decision stage.

· Positive feedback from internal teams and external partners on execution, responsiveness, and impact.
