About the United Football League: 

The United Football League (UFL) is the premier spring football platform, formed by the merging of the XFL and USFL in 2024 under the combined ownership of RedBird Capital Partners, FOX, Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson. The UFL has eight teams in Arlington (TX), Birmingham (AL), Detroit (MI), Houston (TX), San Antonio (TX), Memphis (TN), St. Louis (MO), and Washington D.C.


About the Position 

The Director of Finance should have knowledge of the inner workings of the live sports & entertainment industry. The ideal candidate will oversee the league’s budget and forecasting process and work in a strategic capacity with senior management.  The candidate will work closely with department heads and provide information critical to operations. This position must demonstrate strong independent reasoning, critical thinking, strong communication skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail.


What you will do 

  • Manage financial processes including budgeting and forecasting, revenue & expense performance analysis, cash flow projections, and overall financial reporting 

  • Prepare monthly budget vs. actual reports for senior leadership team, while providing business insights and analysis

  • Work cross functionally with accounting to ensure all accounting-related transactions are accurate; reconcile and prepare reclass adjustments during month-end close

  • Provide financial support for ticket revenue operations and assist in creating and maintaining dynamic ticket revenue models, pricing analysis, and game day reporting 

  • Prepare post-game reports to senior management, recapping event financial performance and key metrics

  • Continuously evaluate existing processes and procedures to improve financial forecasting accuracy and efficiencies

  • Manage finance operations along with Director of Accounting, such as, accounts payable, corporate cards, treasury functions

  • Ad hoc modeling and analytical projects 

  • Provide support with various audits


What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field

  • Experience in sports, live events and entertainment preferred

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related work experience

  • Complete mastery in Excel and PowerPoint; Experience with NetSuite and Bill.com a plus

  • Must be an organized self-starter, innovative and have strong oral and written communication skills

  • Deep understanding of P&L and balance sheet interactions and cash flow

  • Ability to identify financial risks and opportunities that will enhance the profitability of the company

  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment with all levels in the organization

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Additional Details

  • Location of this role is flexible (East Coast preferred)

  • Primarily works in a remote office and/or an office environment but may include attending select games and events in UFL team markets.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
