  Basic Function: 
The Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making and enhancing operational efficiency through descriptive and diagnostic analytics, data visualization, and business intelligence solutions. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
 
As a valued member of a dynamic business analytics department, you will work with unique datasets to design reports, dashboards, and analyses that uncover insights, identify trends, and provide recommendations to drive organizational success for the Houston Texans and Lone Star Sports & Entertainment.
 

  Job Function (Duties & Responsibilities):
  • Collect, clean, and analyze large and complex datasets from multiple business systems to identify patterns, relationships, and insights into business performance and trends. Monitor KPIs and proactively highlight areas of opportunity or risk.
  • Translate business needs into data requirements, propose analytical frameworks, and conduct exploratory analysis and experimentation to address key challenges.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver ad-hoc analyses and research in support of departmental needs. Communicate findings clearly and persuasively through data visualizations, presentations, and written reports.
  • Contribute to the design and development of data operations processes, including data warehousing, quality assurance, and workflow automation. Ensure the integrity and consistency of data sourced across multiple systems through validation, deduplication, and classification.
  • Maintain and support data pipelines across domains such as Sales (CRM, Ticketing), Email Marketing (Eloqua), Social/Digital (Meta Business, Instagram Ads, Google Analytics), Merchandise, Food and Beverage, Fan Experience, and Gameday alerts.
  • Assist in implementing data governance, privacy, and consent protocols. Support privacy impact assessments, compliance monitoring, and incident management. Educate end-users on proper data use and storage practices to mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to the business analytics knowledge base by developing and maintaining data documentation, business glossaries, and metric definitions. Stay current on industry best practices in analytics engineering and apply them to day-to-day work.
  • Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by department leadership.
  • Subject to reasonable accommodations, this position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.
 

 Skills Required: 
  • Understanding of relational data models, frameworks to process unstructured data, and big data tools
  • Experience in database management (SQL Server preferred), writing end-to-end data pipelines (ELT/ETL methods and writing analytical queries) and working with dashboarding/visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications with advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Python with working experience with data frameworks and notebooks (Databricks preferred)
  • Experience utilizing REST APIs for data ingestion; Understanding of authentication and authorization
  • Understanding of CI/CD workflows, version control (GitHub, Azure DevOps) and code collaboration/review
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and work effectively under pressure and within deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships.

  Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in data analytics/engineering with proven skills in developing meaningful and concise analytic objectives from business goals required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional travel related to job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, stand, walk, sit, drive, bend, squat, climb, twist and reach as necessary.
