Basic Function: Manage the Houston Texans community events, initiatives, and programs with directive and insight from the Director of Community Development.
Job Function (Duties & Responsibilities):
- Programs/Initiatives – Manage the scheduling and execution of community outreach programs for community partners, schools and sponsors related to the Club’s main initiatives, including but not limited to Community Huddle and Cheering Children Ticket Program.
- NFL Initiatives - Coordinate the implementation of NFL community initiatives, such as NFL PLAY 60, Character Playbook, and My Cause My Cleats community effort, into Club’s community initiatives.
- Collaboration- Collaborate with Communications, Digital and Broadcast departments to increase awareness and exposure of Club’s Community Relations events, including coordinating graphics and coverage requests, including managing partner recognition.
- Communication - Serve as the liaison for the business operations side of the team for the scheduling of players and coaches for Club and Community Relations department events and programs, paid and unpaid, as well as external requests. This includes confirming appearance details including player role, budget, location, maintaining up-to-date calendars, and communicating details with Community Development team and business operations teammates to finalize player appearances for events.
- Database Management - Develop and maintain community partner directory.
- Budget – Manage and maintain community event and program budgets and timely submission of expense reports.
- Annual Community Impact Report – lead Community Development team with creation of the annual report.
- Training Camp - Manage the execution of community department training camp initiatives, such as Community Corner and player autograph signings.
- Inventory - Oversee and maintain Houston Texans Community Relations giveaway inventory. Work with Houston Texans approved vendors to re- order and replace items. Provide items in support of Houston Texans community events as well as Houston Texans affiliates (players, Legends, coaches, community partners, etc.).
- LSSE - Manage the execution of all Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE) fundraising events, e.g., Gridiron Legends Golf Tournament, all gameday auctions and various other fundraising initiatives.
- Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by departmental leadership.
Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, many job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club’s offices on a regular basis and not in a telecommuting manner; provided, however, this position requires frequent and regular visits to current and prospective partner offices and elsewhere away from the Club’s offices to present proposals and participate in follow-up meetings.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently across different mediums such as in person, on the telephone and in writing.
- Ability to think creatively to identify new and different ways to promote a business, individual, initiative, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externally.
- Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in sports or non-sports non-profit with clear responsibilities in community development, strategic partnerships, events, or volunteer management required.
