The Houston Texans are in a season of growth and are seeking an individual for the position of Community Engagement & Operations Intern, LOVB.
The Opportunity: LOVB Houston is seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded intern to support our efforts to grow the LOVB Houston brand and deepen our connection with the Greater Houston volleyball community. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, comfortable interacting with fans and community partners, and willing to jump in wherever needed.
Basic Function: Gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of a professional sports organization, including community engagement, grassroots marketing, event operations, volleyball operations, sales, and game presentation.

Job Function (Duties & Responsibilities):
Community Engagement & Activations
• Support the planning and execution of LOVB Houston community activations throughout Greater Houston.
• Represent LOVB Houston at youth and high school volleyball tournaments, college matches, community events, festivals, partner events, watch parties, and other grassroots opportunities.
• Help identify new opportunities for LOVB Houston to engage with volleyball players, coaches, clubs, schools, families, and fans.
• Assist with activation setup, execution, breakdown, giveaways, fan engagement, lead collection, ticket promotions, and other on-site needs.
• Assist with player and coach appearances in the community as needed.
Houston Volleyball Community Relationships
• Maintain and update contact lists and information for local volleyball clubs, schools, coaches, tournaments, and organizations.
• Research upcoming volleyball events and identify opportunities for LOVB Houston participation.
• Assist with outreach and follow-up to community partners and volleyball organizations.
• Serve as a positive ambassador for LOVB Houston within the local volleyball community.
Team & Practice Support
• Assist LOVB Houston staff with practice-related needs throughout the season.
• Help coordinate practice visitors, community groups, special guests, and other practice experiences.
• Work closely with volleyball operations and business staff to ensure a professional and welcoming environment.
Match Day & Court Crew Support
• Assist with the coordination and management of the LOVB Houston Court Crew and other game-day support staff.
• Help communicate schedules, responsibilities, arrival times, uniforms, credentials, and expectations to Court Crew members.
• Help execute fan engagement activities, in-match promotions, giveaways, and other elements of the LOVB Houston game-day experience.
• Serve as an additional resource wherever needed to help deliver a first-class experience for players and fans.
Marketing & Brand Support
• Help bring the LOVB Houston brand into the community through creative grassroots marketing efforts.
• Support ticket sales initiatives tied to community events, youth clubs, schools, and other local organizations.
• Assist with capturing basic photos, videos, and content from community activations and events for use by the LOVB Houston social and marketing teams.
• Bring forward new ideas for how LOVB Houston can connect with and grow its fan base.
• Assist Club and Club staff in a professional manner on all Texans gamedays, LSSE Events, LOVB Volleyball Houston events and duties within the Business operations offices.
• Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Business Officer, LOVB
Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, many job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club’s offices on a regular basis and not in a telecommuting manner.
Skills Required:
• Knowledge of volleyball and the Houston volleyball community is required.
• Outgoing and comfortable interacting with athletes, coaches, parents, fans, partners, and community organizations.
• Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Willingness to take initiative and jump in wherever help is needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in sports management, marketing, communications, communications, business, event management, or a related field preferred.
Travel & Work Environment:
• Travel: Occasional local and domestic travel as required for practices, matches, tournaments, and community events with reliable transportation.

• Work environment: This is a hybrid (in-office and the Greater Houston area), hands-on role that requires being on your feet for extended periods at LOVB games, community activations, practices, and events; including setup, breakdown, and staffing throughout. Work involves regular walking, standing, and occasional lifting/carrying of event materials (up to 25 lbs., such as tables, signage, and match equipment/supplies), in indoor, outdoor or varied-weather conditions. Regular evening and weekend availability is required to support practices, matches, tournaments, and community events outside standard business hours.
