Assistant Facilities Engineer Job Description
 
Department: Facility Engineering 
Direct Supervisor: Director, Facilities
Status: Full-time
                                                         
Summary:
The Assistant Facilities Engineer will support the Director, Facilities in the day-to-day upkeep & maintenance of the entire team practice facility (Baptist Health Training Complex) and elements of the adjacent medical office building.
 
Location:
  • This is a full-time position based on site at Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens, FL.
Responsibilities:
  • Daily interior & exterior inspections of the facility & surrounding property
  • Respond promptly/immediately to building maintenance, repair, and cleaning requests, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance and make repairs as needed
  • Maintain & execute preventative maintenance schedule for all building assets
  • Work with external vendors to provide service and maintenance as needed throughout the calendar year
  • Schedule preventative maintenance & repairs with all HVAC units, chillers & cooling towers
  • Use Trane building management system for HVAC & lighting
  • Upkeep & maintenance of all building aspects including but not limited to:
    • Hydrotherapy pools (hot tub, cold tub, hydroworx & lap pool)
    • Steam room & infrared sauna
    • Cryotherapy chambers
    • Kitchen hoods & equipment
    • Elevators
    • Generator
  • Work with housekeeping staff to ensure facility is cleaned & maintained daily
  • Keep inventory of maintenance & cleaning supplies
  • Track service contracts and annual maintenance schedules
  • Help manage workplace safety precautions
  • Monitor the safety & cleanliness of all interior & exterior areas
  • Assist with external events held at the practice facility

Qualifications:

  • Available 24/7 to assist with any facility related emergencies
  • HVAC, plumbing & electrical knowledge
  • High sense of urgency
  • Proactive vs. reactive; Ability to anticipate, prevent & solve problems in a fast-paced setting
  • Able to work nights, weekends & holidays as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills to maintain internal and vendor relationships
  • Tenacious work ethic / someone who likes to stay busy
  • Strong written & verbal communications skills
  • Good time management
  • Ability to multitask
  • Must have an understanding and ability to work on computer programs (preventative maintenance schedule, work orders, assets, vendors), Trane building management system, Excel, etc.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from supervisors
  • Ability to complete projects and resolve issues expeditiously, independently and with minimal supervision; must be able to show initiative and good judgement
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, and lift or move heavy equipment
