The Director, Social + Digital Content will oversee the day to day operations of the Chargers organic social media feeds and chargers.com. This position reports to the Vice President, Digital Marketing + Social Media. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

MANAGEMENT 
  • Lead the social programming, vertical video and digital content teams in creating and programming culturally relevant content that amplifies our brand and reaches new, engaged audiences 
  • Oversee the day to day content cadences across Chargers Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and chargers.com 
  • Make strategic, real-time decisions regarding Chargers organic content 
  • Develop ideas that flex across platforms — while also driving best-in-class performance within specific platforms 

COLLABORATION

  • Serve as a liaison between social and digital content team and other teams within the organization including Community, Public Relations and Partnerships
  • Manage the execution and programming of partner content across all chargers social platforms and chargers.com

  • Oversee the content calendar + weekly programming meetings ensuring strategic alignment across tentpole events, activations, and partnerships
  • Collaborate closely with other internal stakeholders to ideate and execute around tent pole events and organizational priorities 

  • Partner closely with Content Performance team to implement platform and content strategies that drive growth, revenue and engagement 

  • Work closely with Video Production teams to ensure content is aligned across 

  • Develop and implement platform-specific social media strategies that elevate our team, players, organization and brand

INNOVATION + LEADERSHIP

  • Use data to guide content decisions, trend identification, resource allocation, and optimizations

  • Stay on top of emerging digital trends and consistently integrate new opportunities for the Chargers’ online presence

  • Execute a social-first content ecosystem, building streamlined capabilities that enable rapid content creation and deployment 

  • Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years experience managing organic social media accounts
  • 2-4 years managing social/digital direct reports
  • Preferred: Experience working for a professional sports team or league  

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Experience managing a high-frequency and culturally relevant social media team 
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong understanding of the Chargers voice and tone
  • Deeply online and in tune with trends, memes, viral content and popular culture
  • Well versed in football and the NFL 
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
