The Los Angeles Rams are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Fellow to assist with the care and maintenance of the practice grounds. This individual will be responsible for helping ensure the practice grounds adhere to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards for NFL fields.
Note: This is a 12-month assignment, with the opportunity for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Grounds Team in developing and executing plans for the successful maintenance of the Los Angeles Rams practice fields.
- Assist with maintenance needs for the surrounding facility landscape ensuring it is upkept and maintained at a high professional standard; utilize and sustain all field maintenance equipment with safe operation.
- Help track and order all materials and equipment necessary for the grounds team.
- Assist in setting up practice fields for all practices and events, ensuring they are safe and ready for use; assess requirements for improving fields for player safety.
- Assist with painting and lining practice fields to NFL standards with accuracy and consistency for all markings.
- Help manage and review the irrigation system’s performance daily and initiate change when necessary.
- Track and perform required NFL practice field safety tests and report on field performance metrics to support data-driven maintenance decisions. Coordinate with the NFL to improve practices and standards and comply with safety requirements.
- Assist with the application of regular foliar and granular fertilizers, fungicides, and insecticides; ensure they are correctly applied at the right rate following the field maintenance program standards; practice compliance with proper handling and safe storage.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate from an accredited college/university in turf management or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in landscape or athletic grounds maintenance practices.
- Ability to work long and non-traditional hours that may vary, including daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude and great work ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- In carrying out your responsibilities, you will be asked to complete physical tasks such as carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders/stairs, and kneeling.
- The job will entail prolonged periods of time outside, potentially in inclement weather conditions.
Hourly Rate: $21.00/hour
