The Director of Game Operations will lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all game-day and event operations for the IAL’s Las Vegas Rockers, ensuring high production standards, operational efficiency, and an outstanding fan experience. This role requires strategic leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to execute under tight timelines in a dynamic live-sports environment.
The Director of Game Operations works collaboratively with the Head Coach, Marketing, Broadcast, Facilities, and Logistics teams and plays a key role in integrating league-wide operational standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of game-day planning and execution, including run-of-show, timelines, event staff, and logistics
- Lead development and implementation of operational protocols, checklists, and contingency plans
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners: facilities (Orleans Arena), ticketing, security, broadcast, media, sponsors, and sponsors’ partners
- Manage premium experiences, in-game entertainment elements, promotional activations, and fan engagement initiatives
- Supervise and train game-day staff, contractors, and volunteers
- Lead post-event debriefs to identify opportunities for operational improvements
- Ensure compliance with league rules, safety guidelines, and championship operational standards
- Support travel-related operational planning on away games when required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in live event operations, ideally in professional sports, arena football, or major entertainment events
- Track record managing complex live event logistics and staff leadership
- Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays per game schedules
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup sports environment with evolving processes
Preferred Experience
- Arena football, indoor football, or other live sports event operations experience
- Experience working with broadcast and production partners
- Familiarity with major event safety and crowd management standards
- Proficiency with event management software, ticketing systems, and production tools
