Position: Coaching Intern

Position Summary
The Quad City Steamwheelers are seeking energetic and motivated college students local to the Quad Cities area to join our 2025 Coaching Internship Program. This hands-on opportunity provides valuable experience within a professional football environment and helps prepare aspiring coaches for future roles in the sports industry.
As a Coaching Intern, you’ll work directly alongside the Head Coach and coaching staff, assisting with daily football operations, practices, game preparation, and player development. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience in all aspects of team management and coaching strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist with practice setup and teardown, including field preparation and equipment organization.
- Help guide players through individual and team drills under the direction of the coaching staff.
- Support coaches in film breakdown, opponent scouting, and film session preparation.
- Assist the staff during practices and games, including on-field communication, logistics, and adjustments.
- Record, organize, and prepare game and practice footage for review and discussion.
- Help manage player performance data and assist with daily football operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including lifting and moving equipment when needed.
Qualifications - Must be a college student local to the Quad Cities area and eligible to receive college credit for the internship.
- Strong interest in coaching and player development.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the team schedule.
- Must be able to attend all (8) home games and assist with game-day operations.
- Must be able to start in January 2026 and remain through the end of the season (preferred).
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to take initiative.
