Turf & Grounds Intern
The Indianapolis Colts are seeking a Turf & Grounds Intern to join the Indianapolis Colts. This role involves close collaboration with the Grounds, Facility, Equipment, and Operations Departments to maintain the team's facility, with a primary focus on landscaping. As a member of the Colts team, the Turf & Grounds Intern will play a key role and gain valuable hands-on experience within an NFL organization.
The Turf & Grounds Intern will report to the Director of Grounds and will work alongside other departments and business partners throughout their internship. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position requiring over 40 hours of work per week.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the practice fields and the landscaping around the team facility.
- Perform routine department duties such as mowing, trimming, and edging.
- Perform field set-up tasks: painting, irrigating, repairing divots, weed control, fertilization, and general maintenance.
- Applying and removing field tarps as directed.
- Safe operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery used in turf management.
- Snow removal duties as assigned by the Director of Grounds.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Grounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, which may vary by function and include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform manual labor for extended periods, in all weather conditions.
- Capacity to walk long distances.
- Ability to lift or carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Educational background in turfgrass management preferred.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work effectively and professionally, both independently and as part of a team.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, risk management practices, safety precautions, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures established at the facility and governed by state and federal law.
- Experience operating equipment related to the industry.
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and overtime.
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required.
