Summary/Objective
The U.S. National Teams Operations Intern supports USA Football in athlete engagement, recruiting coordination, and operational execution across National Team and High Performance programs. This role focuses on connecting with athletes, managing evaluations and scouting data, and helping enhance the U.S. National Team athlete pipeline.
Essential Functions
- Athlete Engagement & Communication: Communicate with prospective athletes about upcoming events and opportunities. Support outreach for digital combines, in-person scouting, and talent transfer initiatives. Assist with athlete recirculation between NTDP, High Performance, and partner platforms.
- Athlete Management & Evaluation Support: Consolidate scouting reports, coach evaluations, and testing data into central databases. Help maintain athlete profiles and update evaluations following events.
- Recruiting & Talent Development: Support targeted recruiting efforts and outreach. Contribute to the creation of High Performance assets and athlete development resources. Assist with National Team activations at Talent ID’s, trials, and 3rd-party events.
- Operations & Asset Support: Help prepare for National Team Trials, High Performance Talent ID's, and key events. Support production of team assets and materials (e.g., athlete onboarding/offboarding apparel, informative documents, event signage). Provide administrative and logistical support to the full-time High Performance staff.
Experience and Eligibility Requirements
- Detailed-oriented and able to work independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Proficient in office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google Docs applications.
- Experience communicating with prospective athletes directly or indirectly via social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Interest in athlete development, recruiting, and team operations.
- Experience in sports administration or recruiting.
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets and athlete management tools.
- Background or passion for digital content, digital marketing, and community management/engagement.
- Experience using digital media as part of the athlete recruiting process.
- Knowledge and understanding of football or flag football.
- Experience with WRIKE, GMTM, or Athletes Soul software is a plus.
- Understanding of marketing funnels.
Education
Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted to an accredited college or university, recently graduated from an accredited college or university, or currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited graduate school. Sports Management or a related field of study is preferred.
Physical Demands
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. Requires the ability to sit for more than four hours per day, reading, listening, stooping, bending, and manual dexterity. This is an internship position.
Travel
Some travel may be required to support National Team activations, Talent ID events, and trials.
