Summary/ Objective: The intern in this position will aid in advancing the department’s goals through data analysis and interpretation. Under the supervision of the director of business analytics and market research, the intern will enhance current data processes, conduct research, and develop reporting on research and business findings. 
 Essential Functions

  • Partner with departments to identify research needs. 
  • Assist with the identification of the appropriate research methodology to respond to the business need.
  • Develop research protocols and assist with preparation of all educational efforts surround research participation.
  • Identify and compile lists of potential research subjects in accordance with study objectives and parameters
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of surveys.
  • Travel to sites to collect and record data as appropriate to the specific objectives of the research.
  • Follow up with subjects to resolve problems or clarify data collected.
  • Review and edit data to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. 
  • Perform basic statistical analysis of survey research (descriptive statistics, year-over-year comparisons, etc.).
  • Combine data from multiple platforms and independently produce actionable analysis/recommendations to drive strategy and improve performance.
  • Provide web analytics reports or dashboards on website performance and campaign metrics.
  • Prepare research and business findings for internal and public consumption.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Previous use of online survey tools (e.g. Question Pro, Qualtrics, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SPSS, Stata or other statistical software
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Tableau, other analytics software
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal communication skills 
  • Teamwork and leadership skills 
  • Self-management skills with a focus on results for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables 
  • Interest in knowing, learning, and keeping up-to-date on statistical and scientific methodology

Education and Experience: Sociology, Psychology or Sport Management / Marketing undergraduate or graduate student with research methods coursework and an interest in athletics

  • Internship begins May 11, 2020 and ends August 7, 2020
  • Internship is full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Interns receive a $775 monthly stipend plus parking allowance
  • Reports to Director of Business Analytics and Market Research 
  • Position will be located at USA Football’s headquarters based in Indianapolis, IN
  • Must secure housing and transportation in Indianapolis 
  • USA Football supports interns seeking academic credit
  • Interns must identify learning goals and work with supervisor to achieve goals 
  • Examine the organization and its industry/environment 
  • Analyze and interpret functions and responsibilities 
  • Observe professionals in various roles and participate with them where appropriate 
  • Apply academic learning to practical and professional work experiences 
  • Learn how to perform specific tasks
