The Tennessee Titans are seeking an enthusiastic and meticulous Team Historian & Archivist to help preserve, organize, and bring to life the story of our franchise. This 3-year term will be responsible for managing the team’s photo archives, historical records, and memorabilia while ensuring our legacy is captured and shared with fans, media, and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will combine the precision of an archivist with the creativity of a storyteller who can protect the past while activating it to strengthen the Titans’ brand, engage our fans, and inspire future generations. The ideal candidate will also share a passion for football, sports history, or cultural heritage.
Photo Archive Management
· Catalog, digitize, and maintain the team’s extensive photography collections.
· Develop or maintain metadata standards and systems to ensure easy retrieval and long-term preservation.
· Collaborate with creative, communications, and marketing teams to provide imagery for storytelling, brand initiatives, and special projects.
Historical Records & Team History
· Organize and preserve documents, media, and artifacts that reflect the history of the franchise.
· Research and fact-check historical information for internal and external requests.
· Support anniversary campaigns, documentaries, Hall of Fame exhibits, and other history-driven initiatives.
Physical Assets & Memorabilia
· Catalog and preserve physical historical assets, including trophies, uniforms, equipment, and other memorabilia.
· Advise on proper storage, conservation, and display methods.
· Coordinate with facilities and leadership on exhibitions, both in-stadium and off-site.
Access & Outreach
· Develop systems to make archives accessible to internal staff, media, and community initiatives.
· Partner with PR, marketing, and creative departments to leverage historical content in fan engagement.
· Contribute to historical storytelling that strengthens the team’s legacy and brand identity.
Requirements:
Education
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Museum Studies, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience
· Minimum of 3–5 years of professional archival, collections management, or related experience.
· Strong knowledge of archival best practices, digitization standards, and metadata management.
· Familiarity with digital asset management systems (DAM) and content cataloging software.
· Experience handling and preserving photographic materials, digital media, and physical artifacts.
· Excellent organizational, research, and communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance preservation with storytelling needs.
· A passion for football, sports history, or cultural heritage is desirable.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
· In-person position based in a corporate environment with individual workspaces and shared common areas
· Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders, along with active listening abilities to understand and respond appropriately to diverse audiences in both individual and group settings.
