In addition to being highly entertaining and competitive on the field, the Tennessee Titans are a critical institution and pillar of the local community. Reporting to the VP of Communications and Corporate Affairs, the Manager, Communications and Corporate Affairs will help drive overall fan engagement with the club by telling off-the-field stories involving the team’s cause-related efforts, lifestyle-driven content, business trade stories, and more. In doing so, this position will work to foster relationships and place stories with local and national media, including traditional news and entertainment outlets, as well as influencers across emerging media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute earned-media PR strategies designed to increase fan interest and engagement with the Tennessee Titans locally and nationally
- Develop relationships across internal departments including community relations, marketing, ticketing, corporate partnerships, and social media and identify and pitch potential story angles
- Support communications around the development of the new Nissan Stadium, including publicity around construction, sales progress, features of the building, and other unique aspects.
- Drive coverage/publicity for Titans and non-Titans events hosted at Nissan Stadium, including on-site event support
- Proactively pitch print, broadcast, online journalists, bloggers, and other influencer stories involving Tennessee Titans players/alumni, executives and staff’s off-the-field activities including cause-related work, lifestyle content and other non-football stories of interest
- Write and edit relevant press announcements, press kit materials, remarks/speeches, talking points, internal communications and other materials
- Collaborate with internal departments to assist as needed for various league/industry awards and recognition for the franchise and individual players.
- Collaborate with the Titans influencer marketing program to evaluate media opportunities around influencer/ celebrity team guests
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or business experience equivalent
- 5-7 years of experience in media relations (agency or client side) or as a journalist – Experience in sports preferred
- Must be an independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player and willing to take responsibility for project oversight and executive management
- Must demonstrate an ability to cultivate and nurture relationships with members of the media
- Knowledge of pop culture; Demonstrable engagement with popular culture and understanding of influencer and blogger landscape
- Show a strong working knowledge of established and emerging digital tools/platforms and how people use them
- Must possess superior verbal and written communications skills
- Creative approach to pitch/story development
