The Manager of Stadium & Event Security is responsible for the day-to-day operational execution of all security functions at Acrisure Stadium and related facilities. This position provides direct oversight of contracted security operations and supports the Director of Stadium & Facility Security in implementing security strategy and ensuring compliance with NFL Best Practices and SAFETY Act requirements.
This role serves as a hands-on operational leader, responsible for planning and executing security operations for all events, including Pittsburgh Steelers games, University of Pittsburgh football games, concerts, and other stadium events. The Manager ensures a safe, secure, and welcoming environment through strong collaboration with internal departments, including Guest Services, to support overall guest satisfaction and organizational standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the day-to-day management and operational execution of security at Acrisure Stadium and associated facilities.
- Provide direct oversight and coordination of contracted security vendor supervisors and event security personnel.
- Manage and monitor all security systems, including 24/7 Software, access control, credentialing systems, CCTV (Avigilon), radio communications, Dedrone, and other related technologies.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute security operations for all stadium events, including NFL, collegiate, concert, and special events.
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty for assigned events with delegated authority, supporting command center operations and real-time incident management.
- Develop and implement staffing plans, deployment strategies, and operational checklists for all events.
- Support and document pre-event briefings and post-event After Action Reviews (AARs) to identify areas for improvement.
- Support the development and execution of emergency operations plans, tabletop exercises, and full-scale drills.
- Ensure compliance with NFL Best Practices Guidelines and maintain SAFETY Act documentation and requirements.
- Serve as an operational liaison with local, state, and federal public safety partners, including police, fire, EMS, and emergency management agencies.
- Assist in risk assessments, threat mitigation planning, and continuous improvement of security operations.
- Promote a professional, service-oriented security culture that supports both safety and positive guest experiences.
- Collaborate with Guest Services and other departments to support the Voice of the Fan program and overall guest satisfaction metrics.
- Document and manage all incidents using the incident management software platform, ensuring accurate reporting.
- Support equipment management, including setup, deployment, and movement of screening and security equipment as needed.
- Maintain on-call availability for incident response and operational needs supporting a 24/7 security environment.
- Ensure and maintain proper documentation and recordkeeping to comply with NFL Best Practices, the SAFETY Act, and other applicable standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience in public safety or security operations leadership preferred.
- Experience managing large-scale events or operations within a stadium, venue, or public assembly environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of incident command systems, emergency management principles, and crowd management strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
- Experience working with security technologies and incident management systems preferred.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintain flexibility for event-driven schedules.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during events.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, and maneuver portable security screening equipment, such as OpenGate or Evolv components weighing between 25 and 50 lbs., as well as fencing and stanchions, etc., safely without assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and push/pull wheeled carts carrying technical hardware for extended periods across indoor and outdoor venue environments.
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Position requires working extended hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
