Summary:
The New York Jets are seeking a Seasonal Nutrition Intern to assist the Team Dietitian with nutrition-related tasks and efforts for education and providing information to players, coaches, and staff. This position is a 12-month assignment for the upcoming season beginning April 2026 and concluding in March 2027. The role operates within a professional football environment where daily schedules fluctuate and peak periods, particularly during training camp and the regular season, require significant time commitment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supports Team Dietitian in providing clinical nutrition care, educational programming, and supplement evaluation to athletes, coaches, and staff members.
• Helps prepare fuel and hydration products for practices (pre/post) and games.
• Assists with gathering body composition, sweat testing, and hydration testing data.
• Maintains operations of fuel bar including food safety/sanitation procedures, inventory, receiving/storage of nutrition items, and continuing good-standing relationships with foodservice suppliers.
• Assists in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating individual nutrition and hydration interventions for athletes.
• Develops and delivers athlete education on a variety of platforms and relevant topics.
• Assists with planning and coordinating logistics of home and travel nutrition needs.
• Evaluates the latest scientific research to assist with innovation-based research projects.
• Assists Team Dietitian in collaborating with culinary staff for menu procedures, execution of meals/snacks, and procurement of products.
• Collaborates with culinary staff, coaches, athletic training, strength & conditioning, sports science, and other individuals from the athletic department.
• Performs additional tasks as assigned, which may include duties across the broader performance department (strength & conditioning, sports science).
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
• Registered Dietitian credential (RD)
• Bachelor’s degree in sports or clinical nutrition, health science, or dietetics related field
• Master’s degree preferred
• CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) credential preferred
• Interest in learning sports nutrition for high level athletes
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and have a flexible schedule as needed
• Experience working in intercollegiate or professional athletics/sports-related field, preferably football-specific
• Experience in food service
• Knowledge of NFL compliance is a plus
• Understanding of HIPPA and professional codes of conduct

The Salary Range for this Role: USD $20.00 per hour, depending on the specific qualifications of the successful candidate. Please note, due to job function, regular over-time (paid as time-and-a-half) is expected.
