The New York Jets are searching for a Football Analytics Seasonal Intern/Research Fellow to assist in research and data analysis-related tasks which may include:
- Player evaluation
- Coaching support requests
- Football research
Desired Skills and Qualities
The successful candidate for this role must have the following skills and qualities:
- Basic understanding of database structures
- Comfortable working in R, Python and SQL
- Ability to join data from a variety of sources
- Skills manipulating, describing, visualizing, and communicating results with data
- Understanding of model building process from gathering data through training, predicting, and sharing results
- Solid understanding of statistical techniques and best practices
- Curiosity and creativity to think of and solve unique problems
- Passion, knowledge, and understanding of football as well as data science
- Organized self-starter, intrinsically motivated, able to prioritize responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with deep learning or causal frameworks
- Experience working in football or other sports
- Familiarity with current public research in sports analytics, i.e. Big Data Bowl
Anticipated Duration: Spring 2026 to mid-May 2027
The salary range for this role: USD $21.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on the specific qualifications of the successful candidate.
