Tax Coordinator - State Income Tax Specialist

Job Description

The Cincinnati Bengals are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Coordinator – State Income Tax Specialist to support both state and federal income tax compliance, along with coordination of shareholder distributions. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely tax filings in a multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate tax compliance, strong attention to detail, and an interest in working in a dynamic sports organization.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Assist in the preparation of and filing of state income and franchise tax returns, including extensions and estimated payments across multiple jurisdictions with external tax advisors.  

·       Assist with the preparation of the federal income tax return and related schedules, including coordination with external tax advisors.

·       Maintain and update tax calendars to ensure all federal and state filings and payments are submitted timely.

·       Compile and analyze financial and operational data for use in state apportionment and federal return reporting.

·       Coordinate and assist with shareholder tax returns and distributions, ensuring timely filings and compliance with relevant tax standards.

·       Maintain supporting documentation for federal and state filings and prepare workpapers as needed.

·       Research and summarize applicable tax regulations and guidance at both state and federal levels.

·       Respond to federal and state tax notices and assist in audits, including gathering supporting documentation.

·       Work to optimize efficiencies by implementing the best practices in tax workflows.

·       Assist in additional financial and administrative tasks as needed.  

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

·       Minimum 2 years of experience in corporate income tax compliance 

·       Experience with both federal and multi-state corporate tax filings strongly preferred.

Skills & Attributes:

·       Proficient in Microsoft Excel and tax compliance software

·       Strong understanding of federal and state income tax concepts.

·       Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

·       Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

·       Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential financial information.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.

·       Familiarity with S-corporation returns and shareholder tax reporting is beneficial.

·       Experience working in the sports, entertainment, or media industries is a plus.
