POSITION PROFILE: Social Media Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Digital Media
REPORTS TO: Director of Social Media
STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt 

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time role within the Kansas City Chiefs Digital Media Department. Successful candidates for this role will follow best practices and brand standards across the Kansas City Chiefs supplemental digital and social media channels by following industry, league, and international fan trends.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead our supplementary social media brands, including but not limited to Chiefs Cheer, Kingdom Crew (youth), GEHA Field at Arrowhead, and Chiefs Community.
  2. Create and oversee day-to-day social content creation and publishing across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and Snapchat
  3. Create original content for social platforms including but not limited to creation and editing of photos, videos, and graphics.
  4. Maintain and update a social media content calendar with multiple department initiatives.
  5. Attend brand events and capture content for social media handles.
  6. Monitor social platforms and engage in communication with fans in real time.
  7. Maintain current knowledge of and monitor best practices, trends, and guidelines, including NFL policies and regulations.
  8. Collaborate with the Social and Digital Media teams, 65 Toss Power Trap Productions (video, written, podcasts), marketing, Fan Experience, photography, business development and the Creative Services Department to optimize a variety of Chiefs digital media content and target to appropriate audiences.
  9. Provide game coverage for all home and road games for supplementary brands, including weekend hours.
  10. Alignment with overall organization and department objectives and strategies.
  11. Ability to seek out new, innovative ways to build and expand our brand globally.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing or a related degree.
  2. Must be proficient using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.)
  3. Outstanding writing skills and creativity is a must, including a clear understanding of the English language (spelling, grammar, and vocabulary).
  4. 1-2 years of experience in digital/social media, journalism, interactive marketing, creative services or related field.
  5. Vast knowledge of all social media platforms including, but not limited to, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitch.
  6. Previous experience managing paid social campaigns strongly preferred.
  7. Experience in capturing and editing platform-specific photo and video content using both cell phone and DSLR camera.  
  8. Deep knowledge of the National Football League and passion for the social media industry.
  9. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays (when necessary).  
  10. Must work well in a collaborative environment, be ready to learn new concepts and processes, and willing to travel when necessary.
