Overview:
The Edmonton Elks are seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized Social Media Coordinator to lead the day-to-day execution of the Club’s social media presence. This role is responsible for bringing the Elks brand to life across all major platforms by crafting compelling, timely, and engaging content that connects with fans, grows our audience, and strengthens the Club’s relevance and reputation.
As the digital voice of the Edmonton Elks, you will play a critical role in shaping how the team shows up online — telling powerful stories, capturing key moments, driving engagement, and ensuring a consistent, modern, and on-brand presence across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires both creative excellence and strong execution discipline, particularly during the season, game days, and major events.
Key Accountabilities:
- Content Creation & Storytelling: Develop and curate engaging, high-quality content (photos, videos, graphics, written posts) that authentically and creatively tells the story of the Edmonton Elks Football Club - showcasing players, fans, games, and events. Take the lead in scheduling and posting across all Elks social media channels.
- Social Media Strategy: Work closely with the marketing team to develop and implement social media strategies that support the club’s overall marketing, partnerships, community, and revenue objectives.
- Community Engagement: Actively engage with fans and followers on all social media platforms, fostering a positive and vibrant community. Respond to inquiries, encourage fan interaction, and create moments that drive engagement.
- Campaign Execution: Support the planning and execution of social media campaigns, contests, and promotions. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure campaigns are aligned with the club’s messaging and goals.
- Content Calendar Management: Lead the creation, maintenance, and execution of the content calendar to ensure a consistent flow of posts and updates across platforms.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor social media performance, analyze data, and review reports to measure the success of content and campaigns. Use insights to refine strategies and optimize engagement.
- Trendspotting:Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, sports and entertainment culture, and emerging content formats. Proactively bring forward new ideas and creative approaches to keep the Elks’ social presence fresh, relevant, and competitive.
Skills & Requirements:
· Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to create emotionally engaging, brand-aligned content.
· Deep familiarity with major social platforms: Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
· Hands-on experience with content creation, including photography and short-form video.
· Strong writing, editing, and copywriting skills.
· Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop; video tools are an asset).
· Highly creative with a strong eye for visual storytelling and brand consistency.
· Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Comfortable working non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and game days.
· Passion for sports, entertainment, and fan culture is a strong asset.trong storytelling skills with the ability to create content that resonates emotionally with fans.
Education & Training:
· Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a marketing-related discipline.
