Job Title: Junior Graphic Designer

                        

Department: Marketing and Communications

 

Reports To: Creative Lead  


Summary:

The Edmonton Elks are seeking a talented and motivated Junior Graphic Designer (Part-Time) to support the Creative Team in the development and execution of visually compelling assets across the Club’s brand and marketing channels.

This is an execution-focused, hands-on role designed for an early-career designer who is eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, professional sports environment. You will work under the direction of the Creative Lead and Marketing team to help bring the Elks brand to life through high-quality visual content 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively under the direction of the Creative Lead and alongside internal partners.
  • Support the development and execution of graphic assets that reinforce the Edmonton Elks’ brand standards and visual identity.
  • Assist in the creation and adaptation of still and motion graphics for a variety of formats, including social media, digital platforms, presentations, and in-stadium use.
  • Develop creative concepts from initial discussions through to final production, with guidance and feedback from senior team members.
  • Adapt and build pre-existing creative templates and brand assets.
  • Ensure all work adheres to the Club’s brand standards, core values, and quality expectations.
  • Help estimate timelines and support delivery of projects within defined schedules and priorities.
  • Support creative production for campaigns, promotions, game days, and community initiatives.
  • Be available to support content and creative needs on game days and key events as required.
Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of graphic design experience (internships, contract, or entry-level roles acceptable).
  • Willing and able to present a portfolio demonstrating a range of creative work and foundational design skills.
  • University degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • Experience or strong interest in sports design is considered an asset.
Skills & Abilities

  • Passion for strong creative execution and a desire to continue developing as a designer.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including:
     
    • Photoshop
  •  
    • Illustrator
  •  
    • InDesign
  •  
    • After Effects (or motion graphics tools)
  •  
  • Working knowledge of designing for digital outputs, including:
     
    • Social media platforms
  •  
    • Web
  •  
    • Paid ads
  •  
    • Digital signage / billboards
  •  
  • Basic understanding of:
     
    • Branding
  •  
    • Layout
  •  
    • Colour theory
  •  
    • Typography
  •  
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Able to receive and apply constructive feedback and creative direction.
