POSITION SUMMARY:
The role is responsible for identifying and creating exciting and compelling content that drives conversation and engagements around our league and its players. An understanding of tone, style and voice is paramount for success with a creative team producing original content for our fans. This position is a passionate storyteller, a strategic thinker, a creative idea generator and an enthusiastic team player focused on growing the various social media platforms for the CFL. Day-to-day activities include overseeing league’s social media accounts, concept and campaign development and execution, data analysis and reporting, game coverage, monitoring social conversations, and maintaining content calendar.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
- Help lead day-to-day strategic execution for all league social accounts across all platforms to support marketing initiatives.
- Cover games, events, news and other relevant moments in the CFL calendar.
- Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in presenting the CFL brand across social media platforms.
- Create and maintain an always-on content calendar that captures the energy of CFL gamedays, partner campaigns, and key tentpole moments.
- Serve as the platform expert, monitoring trends, testing new formats, and refining tactics that drive fan engagement and follower growth.
- Write and edit copy for all posts, ensuring tone, accuracy, and cultural relevance across platforms.
- Manage social deliverables for partner campaigns and collaborate on content that authentically integrates their brands into the CFL conversation.
- Collaborate with Design, and the rest of the CFL Content team to develop and publish content that delivers both brand storytelling and real-time CFL coverage.
- Use social analytics and reporting tools to evaluate performance, share insights, and evolve content strategy.
- Identify high-performing content themes and social moments that can be scaled across CFL’s channels.
- Monitor and engage with the daily social conversation of fans, CFL content creators, and influencers to expand the CFL social reach.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing social media for a brand, team, or league, preferably in sports or entertainment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of football is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the current social media landscape, including creating and strategizing organic content for TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook and other emerging platforms.
- Ability to analyze and utilize data to customize social strategy.
- Experience managing a team, league or other professional social media account with an understanding of how brands should participate in an authentic manner.
- Ability to organize and prioritize projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, including training and presentation abilities.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications preferred.
EXPECTED COMPENSATION:
The expected compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000, which includes base pay plus bonuses and variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position and should serve simply as a guide. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors such as candidate experience, skills, budget, and location.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- Hybrid Model: The incumbent will be required to attend the office in accordance with the CFL Hybrid Work Policy. In addition, you are required to attend meetings and other business events at the office or other venues as business needs dictate.
- Work Schedule: Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
- Travel: As required.
