Position Summary

The Cleveland Browns are looking for a hard-working, eager Staff Writer Intern who will be responsible for assisting in curating, creating and publishing content about the team, NFL and fan lifestyle. This content will include daily and feature stories about the team, as well as coverage of games and community events. The position will also require the ability to frame content in an engaging way on social media. This role requires project coordination, strong organization and communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. This is a seasonal internship position with a duration of six months.

Position Responsibilities

  • Generate short- and long-form digital content
  • Research and develop story ideas
  • Publish content on the Browns’ web, app and social media platforms
  • Manage process of sizing and uploading photos to the team digital properties via Photoshop
  • Work closely with internal departments to promote team initiatives
  • Interviewing players, coaches and other staffers for articles and social media content
  • Update and manage content in team’s content management system
  • Provide coverage of not only games, but community and corporate partnership events
  • Work daily schedule as well as times before, during and after all Browns games, which mostly occur on nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent writing, research, communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable operating all major social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok)
  • Proven ability to multi-task and produce content for multiple media platforms
  • Proven ability to work under strict deadlines
  • Willingness to cover football and non-football events
  • Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
  • Experience working with a website content management system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player
