POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Intern will hands-on support the Browns communications department in its daily operations. This role will contribute to football, corporate and community initiatives. This is a full-time internship, requiring approximately 40 hours per week, and will align with the club's football operations calendar, requiring availability on the weekends, holidays and regularly scheduled overtime. A season-long internship designed to grow recent college graduates professionally and personally beginning July 2026 until February 2027. The position is based at the Cleveland Browns Training Complex (CrossCountry Mortgage Campus) in Berea, OH, and is a paid opportunity.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Recent college graduate with a bachelor's degree with a focus in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field preferred.
- Must always uphold professionalism and adapt to evolving project changes.
- Strong critical thinker and problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional time management abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, even in the face of interruptions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- A valid driver's license.
- Passionate about building and maintaining relationships within all levels within the organization.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Trusted to handle confidential information.
- Ability to adjust schedule and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required.
- Must provide own transportation and housing.
- Committed to a full-time work schedule that aligns with the club's football operations calendar, requiring availability on the weekends, holidays and regularly scheduled overtime from July 2026 - February 2027.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications Intern will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the communications department, with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Compile and distribute local and national daily news clippings.
- Assist with the preparation of publications, including the team's annual media guide, the weekly game release and the season review.
- Transcribe quotes from players, coaches, front office staff, and ownership media sessions.
- Contribute to the writing of press releases, advisories and other materials needed by the communications staff.
- Support the communications staff by coordinating media interview requests.
- Attend community events and craft compelling story pitches to internal and external media to promote the club's community impact.
- Support the communications department at community, business, and non-football events as needed.
- Set up the press box for all home games, including seating cards, seating charts, booth signage, flip cards, press box notes and other materials.
- Serve as a resource for media during practice and ensure they remain in proper areas.
- Assist with statistical research and utilize research tools such as StatsPass, TruMedia and Pro Football Reference.
- Update and maintain the team's media website (Browns 1RMG) with the latest information.
- Support the department's mailing efforts and the team's credentialing process.
