Department: Football Operations – Athletic Training

Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer

Location: Arizona Cardinals (Tempe, AZ)

Format: In-person

Duration: May 2026 - June 2028. NOTE: This is not a permanent position.

Job Summary:

The Arizona Cardinals Athletic Training Assistant position is sponsored by the Athletic Training Department located at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Facility in Tempe, AZ. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for committed, hardworking, and dedicated individuals that are seeking to gain a future career in Athletic Training, including first-hand experience in a National Football League (NFL) environment. The Assistant, Athletic Training assists in all aspects of the day-to-day operations for the Athletic Training Department. 

 

Primary Job Duties:

The Assistant, Athletic Training position will have the daily responsibilities, without limitation, to include the following:

  • Assisting in daily treatments of injured athletes.
  • Preparing athletes for daily practices.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitized Athletic Training Room.
  • Set-up and breakdown of all Athletic Training supplies needed for daily practices/games.
  • Communicating to Head Athletic Trainer injury statuses throughout the day.
  • Assisting with hydration of athletes during all activities.
  • Managing and assisting athletes during the game day process.
  • Maintaining confidential medical records of care received for each athlete daily.
  • Setting up mobile athletic training room during road trips.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical records documentation.
  • Ability to manage 5-6 student assistants during training camp
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Completed or will complete an accredited Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) Program and hold a master’s degree by May 2026
  • Experience: 1-2 years of sports-related experience in the Athletic Training field (including, but not limited to, student and/or certified athletic training experience)
  • Certification: BOC certified or eligible to pass the exam within 4 months of starting position
  • Licensure: Eligible to apply for Athletic Training License in the state of Arizona
  • Demonstrated understanding when working with injured athletes.
  • Effective communication skills with all individuals across the organization.
  • Ability to maintain high energy and a positive attitude on a team united toward the common  goals of championship-level performance.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity around professional athletes in their work environment.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight (8) hours in length.
  • Ability to lift to 30+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • This role may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions (extreme heat).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; hours may vary depending on business needs.
  • Must complete all pre-employment forms and successfully pass a background check
