This position is responsible for performing all activities necessary to process biweekly payrolls, including journal entries, tax balancing, garnishments, preparing balance sheets reconciliations, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management. This position also serves as the primary backup to the Payroll Supervisor, including acting as the backup Workforce Management administrator.

Job Duties (Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):

  • Maintain, coordinate, and analyze time and attendance records for accuracy and timeliness through pooling of time and balancing, overtime payments, adjustment entries, payroll advances, processing terminations, cash tips, and gratuities.*

  • Assist the Payroll Supervisor with maintaining Workforce Management by monitoring the transaction assistant, updating platform errors, and resolving issues. Create ad-hoc reports as needed for labor reporting, auditing, and special projects and assist with maintaing the business structure and security.*

  • Coordinate with HR and management to ensure accuracy of payroll coding for all new hires, rehires, and transfers.*

  • Research inquiries from managers, employees, parents, or government entities to provide accurate and timely responses, including answering questions about federal tax withholdings, confirming check history with hours worked, etc.*

  • Update and maintain employee direct deposit Wisely paycard accounts for new hires, auditing changes, manually assigning accounts, and troubleshooting*

  • Balance journal payments made by Payment services for taxes and garnishments after each payroll.*

  • Create, edit, and maintain relevant payroll reports using UKG's BI Cognos Reporting Tool.*

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related field experience.

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

  • Detail orientated with high level of accuracy.

  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and multitask with minimal supervision.

  • Post-Employment - Willingness to prepare for the Certified Payroll Professional certification.
