The Hotel Hershey is situated high atop the town of Hershey and has 326 guest rooms, including 19 Villas with 98 luxury sleeping rooms, as well as 25,000 square feet of meeting and function space. The 1930's hotel is a Historic Hotel of America and a AAA Four-Diamond Award winner.

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating social and recreational activities and sporting events for The Hotel Hershey.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Oversee activities, pool, childcare, and sports complex. 

  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of staff. 

  • Monitor equipment and supplies. 

  • Develop and assist with special events and themed weekends. 

  • Maintain proper water conditions in swimming pools. 

  • Conduct and attend meetings. 

  • Assist with lifeguarding, activity, and childcare shifts.  

  • Transport chemicals and sports equipment with company golf carts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older. 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience 

  • Completion of high school or GED

  • Post-employment- Must complete Ellis Lifeguard Shallow Water, CPR, and First Aid Certifications.

  • In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven employee/guest relations, problem solving, and organization skills.

  • Water Safety Instructor and/or Lifeguard Instructor Certification, a plus. 

Job Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Physical requirements include complete mobility and good physical conditioning, good hearing and vision, and ability to tolerate heat. 

  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. 

  • Schedule varies according to operational needs, but includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.  

  • Applicants do not need to be previously certified lifeguards to apply; training for the position will be conducted by the Hershey Resort Properties through the International Pool and Lifeguard Training Program (Jeff Ellis & Associates). Applicants that are currently certified through American Red Cross or other Certification programs, are eligible to apply.
