The Management Training Program (MTP) is an eighteen (18) month hands-on training program for recent college graduates who aspire to move into entry-level management positions within the hospitality industry. Through a combination of working with front-line employees, shadowing managers, and performing entry-level leadership roles, MTP participants will gain an appreciation for multifaceted operations involved in the overall management of resort properties.  Opportunities for a permanent position will be based on the availability and performance of the MTP participant.

Experience may be provided in one or several of the following areas based on operational need and the MTP participant’s experience and interest:

  • Front Office 

  • Rooms

  • Recreation 

  • Food & Beverage Operations (Front Of House, Back Of House, and Banquets) 

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Observe front-line employees in assigned areas to gain knowledge of day-to-day operations. Complete all assigned tasks and assist with day-to-day operations.*

  • Interview, hire, train, schedule, and motivate staff.  Provide feedback and guidance to employees and modify work assignments as needed to meet shifting business needs.* 

  • Act as liaison to upper management. Observe and report on all issues or concerns that arise day to day. Provide feedback to management so they can implement solutions.*

  •  Maintain guest service and hospitality standards through interaction with guests and monitoring employees. Ensure proper execution of all service standards set by management.* 

  •  Monitor and enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards*

  • Assist manager in weekly administrative work such as scheduling and timekeeping. Perform data entry and other assistance as requested. Observe management in order to learn and cross-train.*

  • Participate in meetings, training, and other learning opportunities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license 

  • Graduate with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in Hospitality 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, oral and written

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suites

  • Ability to multitask in fast fast-paced environment

  • Ability to present professional image 

  • Proven employee/guest relations and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management and organizational skills

 Job Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Constant walking, standing (>67%)

  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing up to 75 lbs (34-66%)

  • Occasional sitting, climbing stairs (<33%)

  • Good sense of vision required with ability to perform detailed work at close distances

  • Ability to work in cold and hot temperatures, inside and outside

  • Exposure to a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, exposure to high heat or chemicals

  • Exposure to atmospheric conditions including fumes, odors, dust, mists, gasses, and poor ventilation

  • Exposure to noise sufficient to cause workers to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise levels

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational need. 

  • Ability to temporarily relocate to central Pennsylvania during term of MTP
