Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) I’s are responsible for assessing and providing treatment to guests and team members visiting or working within the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex. Evaluate and provide treatment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Perform to the standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and PA Act 37 of 2009 for an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (National Standard Curriculum).

Job Functions:
Ensure the working condition of all EMS equipment and vehicles by performing routine checks and maintenance.
Ensure adequate EMS supply levels through daily checks and reporting of low supplies to Deputy Chief EMT’s.
Provide medical care to patients under the supervision of an on-duty nurse and EMS Chief.
Respond appropriately and safely to all incidents within the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex.
Establish scene control, ensure scene safety, and determine the best access to the scene for incoming units.
Assess patients and determine care needed. Initiate treatment appropriate to the condition of the patron and/or employee.
Disentanglement of patients. Safely and efficiently remove patients from the scene.
Transport of patients safely and efficiently to the First Aid building or appropriate medical facility with due regard to the safety of all involved.
Cleaning of equipment and vehicles, as well as resupply as necessary after call,s to ensure readiness for the next incident.
Performance of station duties as required to maintain a healthcare facility.
Assist the Head Nurse, Deputy Chiefs, and EMT II’s, with other duties as necessary.
Maintain accurate records of all patient contacts and incidents that occur on Hershey Entertainment Complex property, and enter such information into the incident management database.
Transport patients safely and efficiently to off-site hospitals and approved facilities.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age on the date of application
Currently certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, or a higher level of EMS certification, by the PA Department of Health.
Current certification in Pennsylvania Department of Health approved EMS provider - approved Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Current PA Driver’s License with a safe driving record, without suspension.
PA Department of Health current certification as an Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO)
Current Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazmat Awareness, NIMS 100 and 700
Must be able to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Background Check, and Federal Criminal Background Check, as a condition of continued employment
This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and requires successful completion and passing of a pre-employment drug test

Job Demands:
Individual must be free of criminal record.
Individual must be in good physical health in order to safely perform patient lifting and moving, disentanglement and extrication, and access patients in multiple hazardous environments.
Individual should be able to lift and/or carry 125 pounds unassisted (250 pounds with assistance). This is necessary for patient extrication efforts.
Individual is expected to be walking or standing for a minimum of 2 (two) hours during a work shift.
Individual must possess adequate dexterity and coordination to perform the most intricate patient extrications and/or treatments.
Individual must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, or climb in order to perform patient rescue in many environments.
Eyesight must be very acute, with or without correction, in order to perform adequate patient assessment and drive emergency vehicles; must be able to adjust focus while in changing light conditions
Individual should have good hearing and speech capabilities in order to interact with patients on a one-to-one basis during assessment and treatment.
Individual must have a neat and clean appearance in order to represent the organization in a suitable manner and relay a sense of professionalism.
Individual must be resourceful, able to lead, and able to operate in a CALM and PROFESSIONAL manner at all times under high stress conditions.
Individual may not be under the influence of non-prescribed narcotics or alcohol when reporting for work.
Individual must be able to work in a combination of indoor and outdoor weather conditions
Individual must be detail-oriented and have clear, written, and oral communication skills
Individual must have the ability to safeguard confidential information. Individual must display a positive attitude, willingness to learn, ability to follow instruction, and the ability to maintain a professional image

EMT uniform will consist of navy blue pants, white uniform shirt with EMT patch,white crew neck t-shirt free of writing or logo, dark socks, black closed-toe shoes, black belt, name tag, and badge.
Only jackets, sweatshirts, and hats meeting criteria established by the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex are permitted.
