This position is responsible for sales, planning, and execution of banquet catering events for the Hershey Country Club.  This position will be tasked with leading the Catering leadership team, Set Up, and Server staff to prepare and execute events for our Banquet clientele of up to 300 guests.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Generate proposals for corporate and private events booked at Hershey Country Club. Consult with clients to understand their needs; assemble event details including menus, activities, and themes to build the best client experience.*

  • Lead the hiring, training, development, and performance of the staff. Coach, council and discipline the staff as needed, providing proper documentation. Be familiar with rules and regulations of the employee handbook, HCC policies and procedures, and current Union contract.*

  • Direct and supervise Banquet servers to ensure proper reception and dining table set-ups and to provide our guests with the highest level of service through efficient planning and proper management of each banquet event.*

  • Review group programs submitted by the sales team for opportunities to upsell food and beverage. Reach out to customers in order to sell upgraded food and beverage packages.*

  • Outline details of functions on banquet event orders and floor plans; ensure that all necessary stakeholders understand event needs and execution plan.*

  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment for the staff and guests.*

  • Direct and supervise Banquet servers to ensure proper reception and dining table set-ups and to provide our guests with the highest level of service through efficient planning and proper management of each banquet event.*

  • Create and maintain accounts in Delphi; update customer information in the database.*

  • Collaborate with operating departments to create special activities, menus, services, setups, A/V, meal functions, and meetings to fulfill customer events.*

  • Collaborate with culinary staff to review pertinent details including guarantees, timing, and food preparation details. Coordinate the timing of courses with entertainers to ensure proper service to the clients’ satisfaction.*

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors that provide goods and services for customer events.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external clients to encourage repeat business.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

  • Industry Experience - Food & Beverage, Hospitality/Tourism, Sales/Marketing/Public Relations

  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.

  • Post-Employment - RAMP Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • Relevant work experience can be substituted for education - 5 years

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with catering, conference and social events planning, and/or food service preferred. Ability to negotiate and close deals, manage multiple priorities, and display infinite patience in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

  • Ability to gather consensus across departments and locations

  • Ability to delegate and follow through

  • Keyboarding skills, working knowledge of various Windows-based software, including Delphi, helpful.

  • Ability to organize with high level of detail
