Join the team at Hersheypark Camping Resort, campground located a few miles down the road from Hersheypark amusement park that features log and deluxe cabins, tent sites, and partial and full-hookup sites.

The Assistant Resort Manager will assist the Resort Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Hersheypark Camping Resort and will directly oversee the operations of maintenance, pools, grounds, and housekeeping. This position will be responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences to both our internal and external guests, assisting the Resort Manager in overseeing financial expectations, and assisting in managing the Camping Resorts capital expenditure budget and projects.

Job Duties:

  • Support the Resort Manager in strategic planning, goal setting, and performance evaluation processes. Provide leadership and guidance to department managers and team members, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.

  • Hire, train, schedule, and manage 3 full-time direct reports and approximately 50 to 60 seasonal employees. Monitor and develop team member performance, provide supervision and professional development, conduct evaluations, deliver coaching opportunities, recognize, and reward staff.

  • Maintain capital budgets and direct capital and operational projects. Requisition supplies, tools, and materials for both daily projects and construction projects. Determine inventory and department needs.

  • Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance functionality and safety of the Hersheypark Camping Resort facilities, including but not limited to physical buildings, public areas, cabins, pool and pool areas, exterior grounds, bath houses, machinery, on and off-road vehicles, tools, and lawn equipment. As needed, maintain, repair, and clean all facilities, buildings, equipment, and vehicles.

  • Maintain all swimming pools including chemicals, supplies, first aid equipment, lifeguard needs, filter pumps, and chlorine pumps. Oversee daily water chemistry and pool cleanliness. Monitor pool safety items and first aid items. Document pool chemical readings, daily log book, and rescue/injury incidents.

  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, seeking resolutions to ensure guest satisfaction. Ensure exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety throughout the resort. Monitor guest feedback and implement change based on guest feedback.

  • Manage labor costs and operating expenses in order to meet established operational and revenue targets. Suggest changes in working conditions, labor, and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and grounds to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Actively participate in the Corporate Safety Program and other similar programs and committees. Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.

  • Develop and enforce emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid protocols. Train staff on emergency procedures and ensure readiness to respond to incidents. Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Industry Experience - Hospitality/Tourism

  • Post-Employment - Within three months of employment, applicants must attend and pass the Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. Lifeguard Program. This is paid for by Hersheypark Camping Resort

  • Post-Employment - Within three months of employment, applicants must study for and pass the PA Department of Agriculture Pesticide Core Exam, the Category 24 Pool Chemical Exam and Category 23 Spray Exam. Paid for by the Hersheypark Camping Resort.

  • Post-Employment - Within one year of employment, applicants must study for and pass either the AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) and/or the CPO (Certified Pool Operator). This is paid for by the Hersheypark Camping Resort

  • Post-Employment - Within two months of employment, applicants must attend and pass the CPR/First Aid/AED certification. This is paid for by Hersheypark Camping Resort

  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and requires successful completion and passing of a pre-employment drug test.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for outdoor recreation and hospitality.

  • Proven leadership skills, including but not limited to the ability to hire, coach, train, counsel, and motivate employees.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and business partners.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures.

  • Ability to problem-solve, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Must be proficient with computers and computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, property management system, email, payroll, and procurement software.

  • Must have experience in office and professional procedures, ordering, expenses, labor, payroll, budget analysis, inventories, securing bids, and working contractors and vendors.

  • Must have basic knowledge of pool operations, electricity, plumbing, HVAC, and propane. 

Job Demands:

  • This position requires the ability to be on call and to work a variety of shifts including but not limited to daytime, evening, third shift, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
