Teen Leader Internship
The Teen Leader Intern is responsible for providing safe; fun filled and age appropriate activities for teens ages between 12 - 17. Teen Leaders are responsible for providing the most FUN and memorable vacations to our younger guests. Teen Leaders report directly to the Youth Programs Director and Youth Programs Supervisor onboard.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Teen Leader Intern’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Ensure friendly, jovial, and positive attitude with children and parents at all times.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all teens participating in activities.
- Interact with teens/guests as fits the occasion. This includes, but is not limited to, hosting parties, trivia, games, karaoke, and other teen-related activities.
- Act in the supervisory role within the program. Individual organizes, starts up, runs, and transitions all activities for the teen guests, whether within the Club O2/Circle “C” lounge or at various lounges around the ship.
- Ensure the Club O2/Circle “C” lounge is cleaned and organized.
- Maintain Club O2/Circle “C” supplies and property in good order and ensure proper inventories are kept up to date.
- Follow and implement the Policies and Procedures set forth in the Hotel Operations Manual and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the manual.
- Abide by rules and regulations set forth by the company and/or ship’s command.
- Demonstrate commitment to Carnival Service Values.
- Actively participate in assigned activities including, but not limited to, trainings, drills, safety briefings (including “Port Manning”), meetings, and performances as required.
- Ensure all USPH, Environmental, and HESS/MS procedures are followed at all times.
- Be well informed of all activities outlined in the Youth Activity Schedules, Partnerships (Build-A-Bear, Dr. Seuss “Seuss at Sea”), and Family Activities.
- Inform the Youth Programs Director of all incidents.
- Maintain and control usage of teen supplies and ensure property is kept in good order and inventories are kept up to date.
- Ensure uniform policy, the Carnival Look, and good hygiene are followed at all times.
- Arrive at work during the specific times listed on your schedule and comply with the rotation of different parts of the schedule while following Fun Time procedures.
- Complete all management/leadership office duties in a timely manner.
- Act in the supervisory role within the program. Individual organizes, starts up, runs, and transitions all activities for the teens.
- Ensure the teen lounge is always clean and organized, showing respect to company property.
- Perform CPR and First Aid as needed.
- Ensure VSP and USPH guidelines are followed and records are up to date, including all logs.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary by the Youth Programs Director, Hotel Director, or Shoreside Management.

- Attend all required Carnival Cruise Line training programs, including safety drills, environmental training, and corporate development sessions.
- Communicate and cooperate with all Youth staff and other departments to ensure a positive work environment and exceptional guest experience.
- Be knowledgeable of and assist with other areas of Youth Programming (Club O2, Circle “C”, and Camp Ocean) as needed.
- Maintain friendly and positive guest service and hospitality standards at all times, both on and off duty.
- All other duties deemed necessary by the Youth Programs Director, Hotel Director or Shoreside Management.
PROGRAM BENEFITS:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Be currently enrolled and attending an accredited college/university in the United States.
- Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 cumulative GPA out of a 4.0 scale.
- Be at least a second semester junior returning to school or a graduating senior earning academic credit.
- Be at least 21 years of age or older by the start of the internship program.
- At least 1 ½ years of previous experience working with teens in a camp, school, recreation, or youth program setting.
- Must be willing to work with teens from ages 12 to 17 years old, outgoing and able to lead large groups of teens.
- Be able to obtain a valid USA passport by the internship offer date (We do not sponsor visas for this program).
- Be able to commit to the full-term dates of the internship program.
- Pass all of Carnival Cruise Line’s pre-employment background and medical requirements.
